A Litttle Summer Fun & Restaurant Review

Hey Dolls,

I have come to grips that my summer vacay is almost over!!!  I decided to go visit one of my BFF's for a little fun before it's back to work for me.

Yesterday morning we went for a run and the sun was BLAZING!!!  I think it is safe to say that I've got a nice bronzed tan LOL!

Here is my OOTD
In the summer, I love wearing dresses!  They're cute, comfy, and no fuss when it's time to get dressed to enter the heat that awaits you.  I fell in love with this peplum dress that I got from Ross and guess what else.....it was ONLY $5!!!  Yes, five dollars!  You all have seen these Kenneth Cole wedges before here.

After our run, we had brunch, went shopping, and got some froyo from Mochi.
I love these frozen yogurt places that have been popping up everywhere but Tutti Fruitti is still my FAV!  Check out my post about them here.

Later on we went to dinner at Latinos Y Mas-Latin Fusion Restaurant!  My friend told me that she wanted me to try this place because she was sure I'd love it!
It's a family owned restaurant and they pride themselves on serving Latin cuisine with a Mediterranean flair!  Job well done because the food here is AH-MA-ZING!!!
For starters we were given complimentary chips and salsa before we even placed our drink orders....that's what I'm talking about!
We both ordered the same exact thing which was the
Carne Azada con Chimichurri which came with a house salad.
I don't normally care for creamy salad dressings.  Italian is my go-to dressing but the house dressing was described as being a creamy Italian vinaigrette so I decided to try it and it was pretty good.

Here is the Flank steak which came with yellow rice and black beans, that green chimichurri that was so dang good, and sweet plantains which is that funny looking stuff next to the rice.  Ok so let me just tell you something.....this was so freggin good that I ate every bit!  (don't judge me) LOL!  I don't normally finish my dinner meals that I show you guys but this right here.........I couldn't stop eating it.

Be back soon!

What's Cooking With Trice: Salmon Burgers

Hey Dolls,

I'm back with another quick and delicious meal you can make any night of the week!  I made Salmon Burgers for my boo and I last night and they were sooooo gooood!

Here is what you'll need:
I bought my Salmon Burger Patties pre-prepared at the seafood counter in the store.  I wanted something quick and fuss-free!  The patties came prepared with spices, bread crumbs, and egg.

1.) Add a small amount of salt and pepper and add the patties to a grill pan that has heated olive oil in it.
2.) It'll only take about 3-4 minutes per side.  Once they're cooked take them off the grill and set them aside.
3.) For a side I wanted spinach and fries.  So I chopped two cloves of garlic and let them brown.  Please don't over brown your garlic because it will burn the garlic and make your dish bitter and unappetizing.
4.) A lot of spinach.....
5.) Goes a long way! Add just a tad bit of seasoning to your spinach.  This garlicky spinach is delicious.
6.) I like lightly buttering my kaiser rolls with olive oil spread and toasting them when ever I make this dish.  I also use spicy mayo.  Both of these things add extra layers of flavor!

7.) I knew my honey would want fries so I prepared a few fries by drizzling olive oil on them and adding seasoning, garlic, and parsley.  I baked them in the oven for a few minutes.
7.) Cut up your tomatoes and avacado to add on your burger.  I realized my avacado wasn't ripe enough once I cut into it, so I didn't use it.  I was a little peeved because I love what it adds to the burger.  It was still phenomenal though!
8.) Enjoy!
It seriously takes no time to whip this meal together.   If you love fish, like I do, you will LOVE this salmon burger. My boo inhaled it....(who am I kidding, so did I)
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Chick Fil-A Breakfast LOVE! Who's really counting calories?

Hola Lovelies!!!

This morning was a Chick-Fil-A kinda morning!  I promised my self no more fast food restaurants and I've done pretty good with the exception of Chick-Fil-A, Pollo Tropical, and of course Subway but they hardly count as fast food! At least in my book.  Why, you may ask, because at the end of the day, they are way more healthier options that those other popular fast food joints and let's face it, they taste better!!!

I'm not really a calorie counter but for those of you who are, they have some relatively low cal choices like the following for example:
3 count chicken minis (280cal)
Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich (290cal)
New Chicken Tortilla Soup (230cal)

Well this morning I wanted something with a little more...it was just that kind of morning so I got this....

Yep, that's right a buttery and delicious Chick-Fil-A Chicken Biscuit that I love with honey, and a small cup-o-joe with lots of cream and sugar! LOL!

OK, OK, OK...so on a day when I put forth the effort to preserve my "girlish figure" as my boo likes to say, I go for this:
The Yogurt Parfait with Granola!  This is a delicious option if I can say so myself!  I actually choose this option more than the biscuit but like I said, some days ya just want the fat!!!  This parfait only has 290 calories if anyone cares to know!

Go ahead and grab you some Chick-Fil-A  it's good and better for ya! "Eat More Chikin"!   Talk to you soon!

Sunday's Best - A Simple Look for a "Versatile Blogger"

Hey Dolls!

How have you all been?  Great I hope!  I've been OK.  Summer is coming to a quick close and I'm a little sad about it.  It seems like it just started.  It's all good though because I'm looking forward to a great year at school!

The Adversary Can't Steal My Joy:
Yesterday morning (Sunday) when I was ready to leave for church, I discovered a dead car battery!  I called a few church buddies to stop by on the way to church to jump me but when we tried, we discovered my jumper cables weren't working.  We had to go to Advanced Auto to get new cables and when I hopped up in their jeep, the split in the back of one of my fav high-waisted skirts REALLY SPLIT lol! I had to change into these high-waisted trousers instead.

We got back to the house and jumped my car.  We realized that my brake lights weren't going out when the car was off, which was the culprit in draining my battery.  We went back to Advance Auto to get a new brake light switch.  By the time we finished all of this, we knew church would be over.

To God be the Glory because I talked to the Pastor and his wife and was able to get the word anyways! It definitely applied to my life at this very moment. It was about surrounding yourself with people who are supportive of you and are positive forces in helping you be the best you that you can be. There is nothing worse than someone who always says negative things about your dreams and aspirations instead of encouraging you to go for what you want in life!  Great message!

I know I am super duper late but the beautiful Dana of Dana's Lookbook passed an award on to me for being a Versatile Blogger!!!  Thank you so much Dana!  I always feel so humbled to receive blog awards and I'm so happy you all enjoy the content I put on my blog!  Thank you to everyone who visits and/or comments, I read them all!

Here are the rules:
* Nominate 10 fellow bloggers who are relatively new to blogging
* Let them know you have nominated them
* Share 7 random facts about yourself
* Thank the bloggers that have nominated you
* Add the versatile blogger award to your post

I read a lot of blogs so it's always hard to pick a set amount and though I think everyone deserves this award, I'll stick to the rules and choose 10 so I nominate the following

Last but not least 7 random facts about me....
1.) I'm thinking about hiring someone to wash my dishes, fold my clothes, and clean my baseboards lol...Just kidding....naw for real though.
2.) I'm becoming increasingly comfortable with online shopping.  I use to be afraid of it.  I have a new found love for Forever 21!
3.) Though catchy, I love that song "Call Me, Maybe"!
4.) I've been on a mad hunt for some neon yellow heels but it seems like everywhere is sold out.
5.) I've got the baby itch! (Need that ring first *wink *wink)
6.) My little dog who I love so dearly(college grad gift from my boo) is sick and it makes me sad...pray for her.
7.) I have cheerleading practice in an hour...that's pretty random aye? Yes I coach!
Quick Question Before I Go:
Is anyone else having issues with Blogger posting your pictures sideways????  I swear it gives me heartburn!!! LOL!

Ok dolls, I feel like this post was forever long.  Thanks for reading and have a great week!!!

NEWK'S Express Cafe!!!

Hey Dolls,

I'm excited to express how much this new cafe ROCKS MY freggin' SOCKS!!!  Newk's Express Cafe!
Of course I have been hearing the buzz about this place since it opened late spring and I finally got the chance to go, over the weekend. When I got there, the line was almost out of the door.
I was instantly impressed with the prices on the menu, and ALL of the food choices looked enticing!!!

I went with the pick 2 option! Although it was a blistering 100 degrees outside, I had to try one of the soups of the day, The Ultimate Crab Soup! What can I say, I'm a sucker for anything with crab in it...even if it's soup in the middle of the summer.  It was full of crab and corn, topped with crispy, garlicky croutons..YUM, and just a mouth full of flavor! It was a great choice!

For my sandwich option I got the half Grilled Chicken sandwich! It comes with grilled chicken breast, olive oil, applewood smoked bacon, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and NEWK's original honey mustard!
Can you say DELICIOUS!!!!

One thing I enjoyed was watching everyone's food be prepared to order! That is ALWAYS a GOOD THING!!!
Other options on the menu include salads, pizzas, and interesting desserts like brownies and peanut butter crispies!

I like that there is one size, one big size drink, and you can keep the cup!
In the middle of the sitting area there is a bar that has your complimentary salt and pepper, croutons, napkins, dressings, crackers and bread sticks!
Last, but certainly not least, is the "Grab N Go" area. A lot of their sandwiches and salads are prepared daily and ready to go if you're in a hurry but want a good meal!

I was thoroughly impressed with Newks! They definitely get an A+ in my book and has quickly become a favorite for me! I will certainly be back soon for more of what their menu has to offer!

What's Cooking with Trice!?! BAKED ZITI!!!

Hey Dolls,

It's been quite a while since my last recipe post.  I tend to do a lot more experimenting in the kitchen during the summer because I have more time on my hands.  Last night I made my version of baked ziti.  This was my first time making it and I just went off of what I thought would be good in it.  In other words, I had no recipe...but it turned out delicious!
 Here's what you'll need:
Ground Turkey/  Smoked Turkey Sausage/ Yellow Onion/ Marinara Sauce/ Ziti Noodles/ Spinach/ Corn Kernels/ Mozzarella Cheese/ Garlic/ Seasoning of Choice

1.) Chop 1/2  onion and 2 garlic cloves, drizzle a little Extra virgin olive oil in a hot skillet and saute your onion and garlic with a chopped smoked sausage link.  Season then add ground turkey and cook through.
While the meat cooks, boil your ziti noodles until al dente (Approximately 7-8 minutes).  I should've added a little oil or butter because my noodles stuck together after I drained the water off.
2.) After your meat is cooked, add marinara sauce and 2 handfuls of baby spinach leaves.  I have grown to really LOVE baby spinach leaves!  They add so much flavor to a dish.  This may look like a lot, but the spinach wilts quite a bit as it cooks.
3.) Once the spinach wilts down, stir in 1 cup of frozen corn kernels and mix everything well.
4.) Once everything is combined, prepare your ziti to be baked.  I added the meat and veggies in the baking dish first then a layer of cheese, then noodles, another layer of meat and veggies, and so forth.  I repeated until everything was plated.
5.) Afterwards, I topped of the ziti off with the rest of the cheese I had left.  Next time I will need to use two bags of cheese because as you can see, I ran out.

6.) Bake for about 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted.  You can see here that my cheese was a little bit sparse.
That's quite alright because it turned out delicious!!!
Please try this!  I'm telling you, ground turkey has so much more flavor than ground beef!  I was pleased with how flavorful this dish turned out!  If you try it, let me know how it was for you!

Have a FAB day!

Bahama Breeze Blogger Event

Hey Dolls,

Last week I was given the opportunity to host happy hour for some friends at Bahama Breeze!  At the event we listened to live music, sampled the new "Legendary Cocktails", and ate complimentary appetizers and small plates!

Let's get right to it!

In order from left to right was the "Painkiller" which had a hint of coconut and pineapple, "Goombay Smash" which had a hint of orange in it, and the "Barbados Rum Punch" which was favorite for the evening!  Not sure what was in it...but it was good!
These chicken quesadillas were delicious!  Not only did they have chicken but they were loaded with spinach so that can't be a bad thing.
Chips and salsa are never bad!
These little cheeseburger sliders were a hit among my friends!
These chicken empanadas were my favorite.  The corn and black bean salsa complimented them perfectly.
I'm not a huge pork eater but I wanted a bun to slap this tender and incredibly tasty pulled pork and bbq sauce on!  LOL!  The pork was very good and came on top of sweet plantains which added an interesting flavor.   Great dish.
Sweet Corn Cakes....not bad.
You can never go wrong with coconut shrimp...at least not in my book!

I tried hummus for the first time here but I didn't get a good picture.  I was pleasantly surprised and actually enjoyed it quite a bit!  I have always been a fan of Bahama Breeze so I thoroughly enjoyed the evening.  If you have one near you, please check them out and be sure to try one of these cocktails and some of these appetizers!  You'll be pleased.
