Hey Dolls,

How was your weekend?  What did you all do in celebration of Memorial Day?  Well, it stormed ( Tropical Storm Beryl) all Sunday and Monday so I was pretty much stuck in the house.  One thing Florida weather can assure is rain!  Anywho,  here is what I wore to work today!

I'm also participating in Work it Wednesday over at A Little Bit of Lacquer and The Pleated Poppy.
I absolutely fell in love with this dress when I first laid eyes on it.  I think the colors are perfect for spring/summer.  Of course, it is sleeveless, so to make it work appropriate, I added the blazer.  The classroom can get a bit chilly so I was okay while inside but whew when I go outside and that heat hits me, the blazer comes off!!!

SIDE NOTE:  I wish I had those ZARA Orange and black sandals to go with this dress.  They were sold out in my size online.  BUMMER!!!

Dress: Bebop via Ross
Blazer:  Thrifted (Talbots)
Heels:  Bamboo via MJM
Accessories:  Rue 21
We are seriously counting down the days until summer break!!!  Tomorrow will be the last day we have the students for a full day.  Friday and the rest of next week will be half days!!!  Then school will be out for a much needed break!

Ok lovelies, have a fabulous day!  I'll be back soon.

Awwwwww Shucks!!!

Hey Dolls,

One more day and the nice LONG weekend will be here!!!

Are you all doing anything for Memorial Day?  I'm not sure yet what I'll be doing but sometimes, spontaneity is best for weekend plans!  Here is what I wore to work today.  The top is actually a dress.  Click here to see how I  rocked it on Thanksgiving!

I woke up so late this morning and on mornings like this I just grab the first thing I see in the closet and make it work somehow.

I almost forgot to tell you guys about Aw Shucks!  It's an Oyster Bar & Grille that my sweetie took me too one afternoon a few weeks ago!  I wasn't a fan of Oysters before I met him (at least I didn't think I was).  I always thought they were slimy and gross!  He convinced me to try them steamed on a cracker with a little butter and hot sauce one day and ever since I've been hooked!!!
We ordered a bucket of oysters and sat at the bar where they shucked them right in front of us!  I enjoy watching them do that...weird I know, but I think it's cool!  We also ordered  the Zesty Seafood Spread that will make ya wanna slap somebody!  It's made with crab, fish, shrimp, and scallops and served with crackers!  DELICIOUSNESS!!!
Aw Shucks on Urbanspoon
I give them two thumbs up and will visit again!
Ok dolls, that's all for now.  I'll be back soon.

Work It Wednesday!!! OOTD

Hello Fashionistas!

I'm back with an OOTD and I'm going to keep it short and sweet today so here goes:

People have been calling me Ledisi ALL week!!! LOL!  With this red pompadour or what have you, I guess we do sort of resemble.  For those of you who don't know who Ledisi is, please look her up, she is an amazing singer!

All of the items in this outfit are pieces that I have worn before.  I'm still kind of shopping the closet!  I've purchased a couple of new items over the last couple of weeks, but I didn't go overboard. (still waiting on H&M to open before I do that ;))
I decided to participate in a couple of link-ups today!  Check them out and check out other fabulous fashionistas.

Hey Dolls,

I was excited to show you my work OOTD, inspired by my new earrings!

I bought these FABULOUS earrings at the Natural Hair Expo last weekend and I think they are just the most eclectic earrings ever!!!

If you missed my last post explaining my new hair doo, please take a look at it!  I didn't think my students would like it, but they all had great things to say.  I was shocked because we all know kids can be brutally honest.
The red is starting to grow on me a little.  My work photographer told me it brings out my eyes! LOL!
We only have 3 more weeks of school left then we'll be OUT FOR SUMMER!!!

I am so ready to enjoy my summer break of fun, rest, and relaxation!  What do all of you have planned this summer?

Natural Hair Fashion Show

Hello Lovelies,

I (or shall I say my hair) had a very interesting weekend!  Saturday I had a photo shoot!  Here's a little sneak peak from the shoot!  I have a hard time NOT smiling in pictures.  I don't think I look right trying to "SMIZE" so I gotta show the teeth. LOL!

Sunday, The Natural Hair Expo came to Jacksonville and I was asked to participate as one of the hair models for the fashion show segment of the expo!  I happily obliged.  Here is what they did to my hair.  It's RED!!!! (It will not stay this way for long!).   It reminds me of Ledisi and Janelle Monae! Please click on their links to see what I mean. Very natural-looking!

Here are the outfits I wore for the show.

Another model and myself wearing clothing from Meow & Barks Boutique a local boutique with FABULOUS clothing and accessories!  Please click on the link and take a look at some of the accessories from Meow & Barks online.

Here are some more outfits from the show!
This outfit was from another local designer whose name I forgot.....that's terrible of me isn't it?

I had lots of fun modeling this weekend!  As for my hair, I toned it down some for work and will be back later to show you some work OOTD with my red hair LOL!

Talk to you all soon!

Work OOTD: Peplum

Hey Lovelies!

Here is my work OOTD!  I remember wearing peplum dresses and shirts as a kid and I love that the style has come back!

I have been wanting to wear this top since I bought it back in March from H&M in Tampa!  I absolutely love the way it fits and I adore the polka dots all over it!
I found this super cute red belt with the gold chain on my last thrifting escapade! I think it goes very nicely and it was only $0.48!!!  The earrings are thrifted too! I can't believe I've been "sleeping" on thrifting!  I have got some really great items!  It holds true that "one man's trash is another man's treasure." Hey there's no shame in my game!
These are the same Kenneth Cole sandals worn here that my honey bunch bought me for Valentines Day!
These trouser jeans are from Banana Republic! I received a gift card to Banana Republic for my birthday and decided to use it last weekend and I'm glad I did because they were having an AMAZING Mother's Day, ONE DAY ONLY sale last Saturday!

Peplum Blouse: H&M
Belt & Earrings: Thrifted
 Bracelet: Forever 21
Trouser Jeans: Banana Republic
Heels:  Kenneth Cole

Ok dolls,  I'll be back soon!  The weekend is near!

Happy 1 Year Bloggerversary!!!

Hi Dolls!!!

I am a few days late, but I have reached the one year mark since my first blog post!!!  I'm excited because it has turned into more than I ever expected it to be and it's all because of you all!!!  I'm so humbled by the blog love I've received and I truly enjoy reading every last comment you all make!  Thank you!!!

Here is just a little recap of the things I've tried to incorporate into my blog over the last year.

1.) Fashion ofcourse or shall I say my style!  Like most girls, playing dress-up is the ultimate past-time!
"Fashion fades, only style remains the same" ~Coco Chanel

2.) Restaurant Reviews:  I love eating out with family and friends especially to try new restaurants so I thought this would be a great feature for my blog! I am now the # 8 ranked blog for Urbanspoon Jacksonville!

3.) Sunday's Best: The Great Commission as a disciple for Christ (Christian) is to spread the word of God to all nations of the world. Matthew 28:16-20
I feel it would be remiss if I didn't share the word of God that I'm blessed with.

4.) Work OOTD: I enjoy sharing my Teacher Look for the day with you all and some of the quirky things my students say! They do say the darndest things!

5.) Hence the name of my blog, preparing good meals is something I thoroughly enjoy doing....when time permits!  I enjoy sharing recipes with you all! Please let me know if you try any and how they turn out!

6.) Most of you know that my hair is natural!  What this means is the natural texture of my hair is unaltered.  No perms, relaxers, etc.  Although it is natural, I do enjoy my extensions every now and again but I love the option of being able to do both.  When I wear my natural hair this is what it looks like. I like wearing it in a puff ponytail!

Wow!  I think I've made my little blog pretty versatile in one year!  The ideas are clicking away in my head so I plan on doing a lot more.  Stay tuned and as always, thank you so much for taking the time out to read, follow, and comment!  Love you guys for that!

Have a great day!

Sunday's Best: A Virtuous Woman

Hey Dolls,

I want to wish all of the wonderful mothers a big warm and fuzzy HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!  I know I'm a day late but with the hard work that mommy's do, everyday should be a happy mothers day!
Here is my Sunday's Best outfit that I wore to church!

Shirt:  Burlington
Belt: Ross
Skirt: Thrifted (See how I wore it before here)
Heels: Zigi via MJM Designer Shoes

Per usual, our message at church was great and fitting for the occasion.  We came out of Proverbs 31 which speaks of a virtuous woman and what an ideal woman of God should be:
A Virtuous Woman, serves God with all of her heart, mind, and soul.
A Virtuous woman respects her husband and does him good all the days of her life.
A Virtuous woman teaches her children the ways of her Father in heaven and nurtures, disciplines, and trains them in the way they should go.
A virtuous woman cares for her body and prepares healthy food for her family.
A Virtuous woman is charitable.
A Virtuous woman is diligent and careful to purchase quality items which her family needs.
A Virtuous woman is works willingly with her hands and sings the Lords praises and doesn't grumble while completing her tasks.
A Virtuous woman is a homemaker and creates an environment of warmth and love for family and guests.
A Virtuous woman uses her time wisely and does not spend time dwelling on those things that do not please the Lord.
Last but certainly not least is one of my favorite virtues...
A Virtuous woman is a woman of worth and beauty.  She has inner beauty that only comes from Christ.  She uses her creativity and sense of style to create beauty in her life and the lives of her loved ones.
Are you a virtuous woman?

Have a blessed week

Teacher's Appreciation! Teachers have Class and Style!!!

Hey Dolls,

Can you read this blog post?  Do you know what today's date is?  What time is it where you are?  If you were able to answer all of these questions, you have a teacher to thank!

This week is Teacher's Appreciation Week!
We have been showered with love from students and members of the community all week and I have to admit, it's nice to know that the work we do as teachers really is appreciated.

I received lots of notes from my students expressing their appreciation for me as their teacher and I wanted to share a couple with you.
Here's another one :)

They all made me smile and it really is the little things that count!
Isn't this the cutest little thing? It was a treat given to me this week. It is vanilla pudding, oreo crumbles, and sour gummy worms!

Now on to my work OOTD!  I wasn't feeling too good today so I grabbed the easiest thing this morning.  I also decided to participate in the Teachers have Class & Style link-up hosted by Mix and Match Fashion!!!  She has amazing style as well as all of the other teachers who participated so please check out her blog when you get the chance.
Blazer & Wedges:  Ross
