Back in Texas and a Feature!!!

Hey Dolls,

How is everyone's holiday season going?  For those of you who have been with me for a while, you know that I'm from Texas and I'm happy to be here now with my family!!!  This time of year is my ultimate favorite time because I get to be with my family who I don't get to see often!

Anywho, here is my OOTD!  It's amazing how a nice coat will dress up a simple outfit!  That's what I did here.
home2_zps4b1a8b37
The weather here was warm at the beginning of the week and is now very frigid!  I wore a simple striped top, skinny jeans, booties, and a vest.  I had no intentions on blogging about it until I added the coat!  I think the coat brought my outfit to life!

Here is what my outfit looked like without the coat.

Before, you go, please check out my feature over at the lovely Cherrie Amore's.  Cherrie has an empowerment series called Dark Skinned Girls Rock created to encourage dark-skinned women to embrace their beauty and gain self-confidence.  I was more than happy to participate.  Any encouragement I can provide for anyone,  I'm all for.
Ok lovelies,  I will try to be back very soon.  I get so wrapped up with the family, I forget to take pictures.  Shame on me.  :)

Talk to you all soon!

Teachers Have Style Too! & A Restaurant Review (Picasso's)

Hey Dolls,

I'm back with another work OOTD! The weather here in Florida is pretty warm considering it's December. In an effort to stay true to the winter season, I'm still rocking my boots when I could very well wear shorts and flip flops outside right now.  I don't know about you, but I feel a certain kind of way about wearing my toes out in the winter, cold or not.  Anywho, here's my look!

leopard3-1
Staying true to shopping the closet until after the holidays, these are pieces you may have seen before, rocked a different way.

This was one of those outfits thrown together after I woke up late for work.  I think I did pretty good considering I only had 45 minutes to get up, washed, dressed, and out the door! LOL!  Gotta love mornings like that!

My sweetie and I went to the really cool restaurant the other night called Picasso's!
Picasso4
I loved everything about this place from the decor, ambiance, down to the food!
picasso2
The decor was very artsy hence the name Picasso's and the food was AH-MAZING!!!  They have a slogan (Picasso's, where food is art")  Love it!

Picasso7
This restaurant is known for taking pride in their food and using the freshest ingredients.
Picasso5
I ordered a lovely glass of Reisling to go with my meal.

Picasso3
For starters we had their Shrimp and Grits which is probably the best I have had to date.  Welll....I love the Shrimp and Grits from Brick but this comes pretty darn close in comparison!  The shrimp were decadent and the flavors of the grits and broth were perfection!  I especially loved the bits of tasso or smoked bacon bites garnished atop the dish!  They addes great pops of flavor!

This pizza.....this pizza right here...was seriously gone in 5 minutes, tops!!!  It was the Saint Louis pizza, which according to the menu, has been voted the best in St. Louis every year for the last 40 years.  I love thin crust pizzas so that was the first plus!  It also had several different blends of cheeses including a smoky flavored cheese that added such a unique flavor to the pie!  We added pepperoni, sausage, and lots of veggies and all in all this pizza was simply DELICIOUS!

I'd recommend Piccaso's over and over because it was truly an amazing dining experience.  Have a great night dolls.

Sunday's Best: "Have I told You I love you? Lately?"

Hello Lovelies,

I'm back with a Sunday's Best post!  The message was pretty awesome so I just had to share.  The message focused on how we can show our love to others.  The background scripture came from 2 Corinthians 6:3-13 and our pastor gave us 3 main points on how we can express love to one another.

church7

1.) Avoid being offensive (2Cor6:3)
I'm sure we've all been told or have used the phrase "It's not what you say, it's how you say it".  This includes sarcasm which I'll be the first to admit I use quite often.

We can easily offend others with our words.  Be mindful not only of the things you say, but how you say them.  We can also offend others with our actions.  We've got to learn to "practice what we preach".  For example, there's no use in telling a child how unhealthy smoking is and that they should not do it and you smoke in front of them daily.

2.) Attend to the needs of others (2Cor6:6)
This one is simple, specially around this time of year.   Be thoughtful.  Think of others and their needs.  Be understanding, patient, and kind.  I always loved this acronym that our pastor uses:  the way we can attain true JOY is by putting Jesus first, Others next, then Yourself.  If you need some suggestions on how to attend to others here are a few:
*  Volunteer some of your time within your community.
*  Donate food to your city food bank
* Get a group together to sing Christmas Carols at a nursing home

3.)   Speak your Love To Others (Proverbs 13:12)
With this new age of technology, people don't talk on the phone as much as they use to.   Because of this, we don't really "hear"  the words "I love you" as much as we use to.  Proverbs 13:12 says  "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life". Can you imagine how many people in the world are longing just to hear those 3 little words from someone.  The 2 points above were ways we can show our love but don't forget to speak your love as well
With that being said....
Love ya dolls!

Have a great week.

Stocking Stuffer Swap

Hey Lovelies,

I love this time of year for several reasons and as anyone else I love gifts but I enjoy giving nice gifts more so I decided to participated in the Stocking Stuffer Swap hosted by Amy from At the Pink of Perfection.
All of the participants were partnered with another blogger and you were to visit their blogs and gather inspiration for stocking stuffer gifts totaling $20.  My partner was Carissa from Lillies & Silk.  After spending a little time at her blog, I noticed she likes scarves, polka dots, nail polish, and sewing so I got her a polka dot scarf, travel size sewing kit, 2 bottles of Sinful colors nail polish, and a create journal.  I was also her partner and here is what she got for me.

StockingStuffer1
A really cute green stocking for all of my goodies.

StockingStuffer3
* A really cute Hallmark Keepsake of a baking snowman
* Candy Canes
Candy Cane Chap Stick
Holiday inspired pencils (these will come in handy in my classroom)
* A grocery checklist notepad
* Julep nail polish ( I've been wanting to try this brand)
StockingStuffer2
Thanks again Carissa! I really appreciate the goodies!

I really had fun with the swap and look forward to doing it again next year! Have a great day dolls!

Smile For Me! Won't ya Just Smi-e-ile Foorrrr Me!"

Hey Dolls,

If you're anything like me, you enjoy a nice cup of joe!  Coffee that is!  I have been drinking it since those long nights in college when it took everything for me to stay awake to cram for those exams.  Over the years my pearly whites have become....welll...not so pearly.

There's nothing like a bright, white smile and when I smile I show all 32!!!   So "if you're not whitening , you're yellowing" so what better way to economically whiten your teeth than with Crest 3D White Strips!

Crest2
These white strips are designed to remove over 10 years of stains and whiten 25 times better than the leading whitening toothpastes, when used in a 4 week time frame.Crest1
The product comes with flexible whitening strips that mold to your teeth.  On the strips is the whitening gel that includes hydrogen peroxide and is safe for your teeth enamel.  I have sensitive teeth so I had to take breaks during my whitening journey but overall I was very satisfied with my results!

Here is what my teeth looked like day 1 of my whitening journey.  Not too bad but not that bright either.
                                           CrestTeeth5

Day 20
CrestTeeth4
I strongly recommend Crest 3D Whitening strips if you're looking for that extra umph in your smile!  They are definitely the best alternative to a professional teeth whitening.
When people ask me what my best physical feature, I usually say my smile.  A smile is one of the first things I notice on other people as well.  A simple smile has the strongest power to lift someones spirits and light up someones day so SMILE every chance ya get.

Have a great weekend!
