Hey Dolls!

I pray you all enjoyed a beautiful Christmas with family and friends!  I most certainly did!  I'm super excited to play with my new camera but I wanted to do a quick OOTD for you first!

 photo sweater3_zps7d33b262.jpg
I don't know....the weather this winter has been pretty unpredictable.  I've been dressing in layers and wearing lots of sweaters but I can honestly say that I've gone almost every day of my winter break without really needing a coat.
 photo sweater2_zpse20ef10e.jpg
I absolutely LOVE this sweater because it is so slouchy and comfy!!!  I thought the scarf was a nice touch in case I got chilly with the shoulders out.
 photo sweater5_zpsafb0c92c.jpg
I think there is something sexy about showing a little shoulder!
What do you guys think?

On another note I want to let you all know that I am truly thankful for all of you who take the time to stop by and read my blog!  I've been blogging for 2 and a half years now and I haven't gotten tired of it yet.  I'm still having a ball and I have you all to thank for it!  I pray you all have a wonderful weekend!

Be back soon!

Hey Dolls!

I'm so happy to be back in Texas for the holidays!  I always look forward to coming back home for so many different reasons!  Of course for spending time with my family but to catch up with my hometown friends as well!

That is exactly what I did a few nights ago.  I met up with some of my old friends at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen for a night of catching up, laughs, and good eats!
 photo 9b6c54f3-0a75-4fc3-b240-7d536c3c05b7_zpsf47f24eb.png
When having girl talk with old friends, what better way to do it but with good drinks, right?!?!?! I had The Grand Hennesy which came highly recommended by our waiter.  It is a handcrafted cocktail made with Hennesy of course, a sugary rim, and a slice of orange.  It tasted like sangria but I loved it nevertheless!
 photo pappad1_zpsdc4ca0a9.jpg
My friend Andrea had the Strawberry-Mango frozen margarita!  She enjoyed it so much, she had two!
 photo pappad2_zps65618c54.jpg
The food was just as I remembered it, DELICIOUS!
 photo pappad6_zps1d511097.jpg

For a starter we shared the complimentary bread and these golden onion rings that were seasoned and fried to perfection!  I don't normally care much for onion rings but these hit the spot plus they had a nice little kick which I always LOVE!
 photo pappad4_zpsb82ea670.jpg
I had this fabulous looking dish, The Jumbo Shrimp Brochette!  This was 6 chargrilled jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon and stuffed with Monterey Jack Cheese and a sliver of jalepeno, served over a bed of dirty rice.......I die!  It was AMAZE-BALLS!!!
 photo pappad5_zps8e14a581.jpg
My friends Andrea and Toni had the fried crawfish tails and fries and a loaded baked potato that I failed to get a picture of.  They told me it was a little spicy but good!
Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen on Urbanspoon
We had a wonderful night and I am so happy I had the opportunity to meet up with these lovely ladies during my holiday vacay.  As for Pappadeaux, it is an absolute must try if you've never been!  There isn't a Pappadeaux in Jacksonville so I jump on the opportunity to visit whenever I'm in a city that has one.

If you're a seafood lover like me, you'll love Pappadeaux! Try them and thank me later!!!

That's all for now dolls, I'll be back soon!

Hey Lovelies,

It is almost that time!!!  Christmas time that is!  My favorite time of year.  My favorite mostly because I get to spend time with my family which are times I cherish most.
 photo 9a528bd1-de96-4dbd-97ef-363ed9a51dd4_zps3ed344be.jpg
It's the little things that I look forward to the most like sitting by the fireplace sipping hot cocoa in my pjs or staying up all night to  beat the entire series Super Mario Brothers with my brother the nights leading up to Christmas.  We're definitely still kids at heart!
 photo a31101d7-67f5-4cba-84d4-e22837e4522e_zps07efdd60.jpg

Are there any special traditions you have at the holidays?  We always open our stockings and 1 gift on Christmas Eve and watch The Christmas Story alllll Christmas day long!  Good times!  I'm getting even more anxious to go home!
 photo f8bdd5c0-c2f1-4c9b-ad9c-8cdceb7825ea_zps780c5d11.jpg

My outfit puts me in the Christmas mood.  The deep red hues in my trousers remind me of the bow on the wreath in the background.   I love the jewels on the collar of this shirt too, they compliment the capped heels nicely.  My top and pants came from H&M.  Shoes are from L.A.M.B by Gwen Stefani.

In case I get too caught up in the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping and family time, I pray all of you have a wonderful Christmas holiday with those you love and a safe and prosperous New Year!

Be backs soon!

Hey Dolls,

It's that time of year again for office parties and Christmas socials and I attended one at Biscottis last Thursday! Biscottis is a quaint little restaurant nestled in the heart of Avondale of Jacksonville, FL.  They offer wonderful gourmet meals, great coffee, and some of the best cakes you'll ever eat!

I have eaten here before and I absolutely LOVE their food!  It's so fresh and flavorful!
For an appetizer,  I had the mozzarella bruschetta!  I have tried bruchetta from several different restaurants and this ranks up there with the bruschetta I had from French Pantry!  It was delicious!  The cheese is ooey and gooey deliciousness and the fresh tomatoes and pine nuts were heavenly!
For my entree I had the ancho honey-glazed salmon BLT with pasta salad!  Oh my goodness....this sandwich was THE BOMB! LOL!  I wanted to eat all of it in one sitting but I stopped myself because I knew I wanted to save room dessert!  The flavors of the salmon and pancetta meshed together very well along with the tomato remoulade and the pesto on the pasta salad was perfection!

Last, but certainly not least are the desserts!  Homemade daily by their pastry chef, Biscottis offer a wide variety of decadent cakes, pies, and tarts!  I had the German chocolate cake and it was so good!  My colleagues had the Oreo cream pie, and croissant bread pudding.  I sampled them both and will definitely be purchasing my own serving next time I visit Biscottis!
I have absolutely no complaints what so ever when it comes to Biscottis!  It may very well be my new favorite place!  The New York Times Sunday Travel ranks Biscottis as one of the top 4 places to dine in Jacksonville and I couldn't agree more.

Talk to you soon!

Sooooo I betcha didn't know I wear glasses!  Well yep, I do! I've been wearing prescription glasses since the 6th grade!  I don't wear them often because I've gotten so attached to my contacts but I do pull them out occasionally.  In fact I've been on a search for a new pair.

I was recently presented with the opportunity to review GlassesUSA.com and I jumped right on it!  They offer discount glasses  and sunglasses that are not only affordable by stylish as well.  What I loved even more is their virtual mirror.  You upload a headshot of yourself and go through virtually all of their glasses to see which variety of frames look the best on you!  For all of you fashionistas this is total fun!  Take a look at my virtual mirror:

 photo glasses5_zpsb4a94a58.jpg

I've found that I prefer plastic or very bold frame over the rimless frames.  That was the beauty of trying on glasses online .
 photo glasses3_zps94216ed8.jpg

I've included the virtual mirror here for all of you to try out!  Trust me, if you're looking for a new pair of specs or just want to see what you look like with eyeglasses on, you'll enjoy this!  Give a try.
If you need some new eye wear, check out Glasses USA.com.   There you will find these discount glasses and their latest sales!  To sweeten the deal, you can use the code Blog10 to take 10% off any order.

I know a lot of you guys wear glasses but are they any of you out there like me who rarely or never blog with them on?   Thanks for reading!

Talk to you all soon!

Hey Dolls,

Happy Friday to you!  Is it me or is time just FLYING by!?!?!  I mean, it was just Black Friday yesterday!  Anywho, I'm back with a really quick and casual work OOTD!
 photo 20131203_104021_zpsefffa35a.jpg

The weather has been so wacky lately.  Freezing one day and warm the next.  The other day I snoozed a little too long so I decided to throw on something quick, warm,  and casual  for work.  This is what I came up with!
 photo vest2_zps2c63d468.jpg
The vest was so warm, I found myself coming out of it and putting it back on the entire day.  One thing is for sure, the cold front/freeze definitely has not made it to Florida yet.   Doesn't quite feel like Christmas time.

This was definitely a shop my closet outfit but there's nothing wrong with that!
Vest:  Forever 21
Shirt/Pants: Ross
Boots:  MJM Designer Shoes

Before I go, I want to thank all of you who participated in the Smoothie King giveaway and congratulate the winner, Fredetta of  CrazyCurvyCool !
I will email you today for your address!!!

I'll be back soon lovelies.  Have a great weekend!

Hi Lovelies!

Happy belated Thanksgiving to all of my fellow bloggers!  I pray you had a wonderful time with family, friends, and the ones you love most!   With the holidays amongst us, it is sooo easy to get caught up in all of the good eats and delectable drinks and completely forget about our workout regimens and girlish figures LOL.  I know I have been totally guilty of this!  I'm still feeling stuffed after Thursday's chow-down!

 photo SmoothieKing1_zpsfa56f9be.jpg
Well, I have some great news for you!  Smoothie King has a new line of healthy smoothies that can help get you through those holiday lunches and parties and maybe even replace dinner here and there before the next chow-down in a few weeks!  Smoothie King's nutritious and vitamin packed Veggie Power Smoothies are an easy way to get the health benefits of vegetables, especially if you aren't a big leafy green fan
 photo smoothieking2_zps03a87841.jpg
I love veggies so I decided to try all three of the new super food smoothies!  Apple Kiwi Kale, Carrot Kale, and Berry Carrot Dream.

 photo SmoothieKing8_zps3642b002.jpg

After tasting all of the Veggie Power Smoothies, my favorite was the Carrot Kale Crush!  It was creamy and delicious! I felt great knowing that I was replacing my lunch with a drink that had so plenty of health benefits!
Smoothie King was so gracious to offer me a $25 gift card to review these three smoothies and my opinions were certainly my own!  Here is the even better news...one of you  lucky readers will receive a $25 gift card as well to try some of Smoothie Kings goodness!

Hey Dolls,

I'm super excited to do a review for a wonderful company, ANJOLEE, a fine jewelry manufacturer who specializes in custom made pieces. When I was contacted to review one of their rings, I happily obliged because I know first hand that their jewelry is high quality and as an added bonus, they are always willing to customize a piece of jewelry to suit your individual style and budget.

Here's a little information about Anjolee.  They were founded in 1977 as a high-end jewelry manufacturer.  They originally started selling their products to wholesalers and retail stores and quickly gained recognition as the leading manufacturer of high-end diamond jewelry.  Anjolee's product line has expanded throughout the years and includes an extensive collection of bridal/anniversary jewelry including: anniversary rings for women , diamond tennis bracelets, earrings, diamond bracelets, and diamond pendants.

I decided to review their beautiful Seven Across Gemstone and Diamond ring.
My ring is 3mm, in silver and cz with garnet gems and it is gorgeous!
 photo anjolee_zps0b3fc2ed.jpg
Anjolee has exceptional customer service and were very expeditious in creating my ring and shipping it to me.  I was a happy camper when I received this gorgeous ring in the mail so quickly!
 photo anjolee2_zpsdfe0d58f.jpg
This ring was provided by Anjolee for the purpose of this review.  My opinions, however, are my own.
I highly recommend Anjolee the next time you want to purchase fine jewelry.  For all of my fellas, if you're in the market to purchase an anniversary ring for you lady, definitely give Anjolee a try.  Their products are impeccable and their customer service is remarkable.

Have a great week!

Hola Lovelies!!!

This morning was a Chick-Fil-A kinda morning!  I promised my self no more fast food restaurants and I've done pretty good with the exception of Chick-Fil-A, Pollo Tropical, and of course Subway but they hardly count as fast food! At least in my book.  Why, you may ask, because at the end of the day, they are way more healthier options that those other popular fast food joints and let's face it, they taste better!!!

I'm not really a calorie counter but for those of you who are, they have some relatively low cal choices like the following for example:
3 count chicken minis (280cal)
Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich (290cal)
New Chicken Tortilla Soup (230cal)

Well this morning I wanted something with a little more...it was just that kind of morning so I got this....

Yep, that's right a buttery and delicious Chick-Fil-A Chicken Biscuit that I love with honey, and a small cup-o-joe with lots of cream and sugar! LOL!

OK, OK, OK...so on a day when I put forth the effort to preserve my "girlish figure" as my boo likes to say, I go for this:

The Yogurt Parfait with Granola!  This is a delicious option if I can say so myself!  I actually choose this option more than the biscuit but like I said, some days ya just want the fat!!!  This parfait only has 290 calories if anyone cares to know!

Go ahead and grab you some Chick-Fil-A  it's good and better for ya! "Eat More Chikin"!   Talk to you soon!

Chick Fil-A Breakfast LOVE! Who's really counting calories?

Hello Dolls!

A few months ago one of my new favorite eateries, NEWKS, opened up at the shopping center down the street from my house!  I was TOO excited because if you read the restaurant review I did here about the first Newks I tried, you would understand my new found love of the place!
The last time I reviewed Newks, I had the soup and sandwich but this review is the "Pizza Edition"!  Their pizzas are SOOOOOOO FREAKIN GOOD! LOL!  One thing that does it for me when it comes to pizzas is the crust.  The crisp, yet chewy, perfectly charred crust gets me every time!  I promise I will not buy another popular franchise pizza as long as I have Newks around.  They have so many different ones to choose from but these are my top 3 favs!

NEWKS "Q" Pizza
This is my fav!  This pie is amazeballs!  It the pizza version of their Newk's Q sandwich.  It comes with a special white bbq sauce, chicken, bacon, Roma tomatoes, and jalepeno peppers!  The flavor of this pizza is insane!  I order it way too much! So much my pants are starting to fit a bit tighter.
Sausage and Pepperoni Pizza
I mean, how can you go wrong with a classic!  Once again, the flavor is insane.  We've got cheese, sausage, pepperoni, and the best part, fresh basil and tomatoes!  Another winner!

  BBQ Chicken Pizza
Another winner in my book!  This pie has sweet and tangy bbq sauce topped with succulent grilled pieces of chicken, red onion, tomatoes, and basil.  One thing I love about Newks is that they don't skimp on the meat!

I love everything I have ever tried at Newks from the sandwiches, to soups, to salad, to pizzas! They NEVER disappoint me! If you've never tried them before, TRY THEM! You can thank me later :)

Talk to you all soon!

Hey Dolls!

Last weekend was filled with lots of fun, laughter, and smiles!  My friend Nedra got married!!!  Ofcourse before the ceremony we had to celebrate her last days of bachelorette-hood with a bridal shower/ bachelorette shin-dig!
 photo 021f899a-1c7c-49a4-8f3c-2fdc526bff5c_zps5b519532.jpg
The decorations for the shower were so pretty!  Every wedding I go to, I create more and more mental notes of what I want when my special day comes!  The balloons in the walkway and the banner of the bride and groom are definite must-haves when my time comes!

 photo nedra3_zps3a09ff91.jpg
I absolutely ADORED the bridal shower cake!  It was perfect for the occasion!  The sweet bar was super cute and she even had water with her and her grooms name on it! How cute is that!?!  We had a ball and when the older guests left (moms and grandmas) us girls had a little fun for the bachelorette party portion of the evening!!!

Great times!  I'll be back tomorrow with pictures from the wedding!

Have a wonderful day!

Hey Guys!

Last weekend I had the dutiful honor of being the hostess for a friend's wedding.  I will share pictures later on this week but first I have to talk food!!!  The rehearsal dinner was held at the Potter's House Soul Food Bistro.  I have been wanting to try them since they moved to their new location on Atlantic Blvd. so I was happy to find out the dinner would be held here.

 photo Potters1_zps6195528a.jpg

There aren't very many soul food restaurants I've gone to here in Jacksonville that have impressed me but I have to admit that Potter's House Soul Food Bistro may be number one to date!!!  The food was delicious, very well seasoned, and reasonably priced!
 photo 56f1e933-a1b0-41c5-a03a-7007aa0f7757_zps080549fd.jpg
They serve your quintessential fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, smothered pork chops, and greens.  They also had ribs on the menu and I may have seen fish as well but don't quote me on that.  I ordered the oxtails with gravy and yellow rice and they were amazing!!!  The meat was so tender and seasoned to perfection!  They had a great variety of veggies as well.   The greens and cabbage were some of the best I've had from a restaurant and the sweet potatoes were great too!
Soul Food Bistro - Potters House on Urbanspoon
On top of the food being delicious, the service was awesome as well.  There was definitely southern hospitality being offered the moment we walked in.  If you're ever in Jacksonville and are looking for some good ole' southern home cooking, I recommend you go to Soul Food Bistro.

Talk to you all soon!

Happy Friday!  I am back with a What's Cooking w/ Trice dish I grew up on that will make you wanna slap your mama....somebody LOL!  Crawfish Etouffee!!! photo etouffee_zps912caf83.jpg

If you don't like crawfish, you can totally swap it out with shrimp! Some of you may know that my mommy is from Louisiana so I ate a lot of this growing up as it is a cajun/creole dish that originates  from New Orleans!
You guys know I'm all about quick, easy, and delicious meals and this is definitely one of them! Traditionally this dish requires a roux but I wasn't really in the mood to make one so I swapped out a few ingredients and it turned out just as good.  Hence, the quick and easy version!

Ingredients:
Crawfish Tails
Cream of Mushroom Soup (1/2 can)
Golden Mushroom Soup (1/4 can)
Seasoning of Choice
Green Onion

Directions:
1.) If you buy your crawfish tails frozen, thaw them, drain the juice into a bowl (you'll need it later), season them well, and saute them until they are hot through out.

2.) Add in the 1/2 can of cream of mushroom and 1/4 can of golden mushroom and mix well.  The mixture may be thick so add some of the juice you drained from the crawfish earlier.  If it's too thin, add more of the cream of mushroom until you reach desired consistency.  You don't want it too thick and you don't want it too thin.

3.) Cut up a few green onions and sprinkle over the etoufee (I forgot to do this) and serve over white rice.

This is unbelieveably good and so easy to make!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
XOXO

Hey Dolls,
I'm back with a Sunday's Best outfit from a couple of weeks ago.  I immediately fell in love with this blouse when I first laid eyes on it!  Unfortunately, the pictures don't do it justice.  I also want to share a story with you.
 photo galaxy1_zpsf35c9fe6.jpg
Do you ever wonder why things happen the way they do?  Why certain people come into your lifeI know I do.  I used to fret over things like this but now I understand that everything happens for a reason and I truly believe it.  It's not by happenstance that we go through the things we go through whether good or not so good.  I try to learn from every circumstance.
 photo galaxy2_zps5ca27762.jpg

A colleague of mine, who I have known for the last 5 years or so was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer a few months after having her second child about a year and a half ago.  She seemed like the picture of health and went in due to discomfort not knowing how grim the diagnosis would be.  Over the last year she was OK and went in regularly for her treatmentsI found out this Tuesday that things turned for the worst and she went into hospice.  I promised to go and visit Thursday but she passed away Wednesday morning, the day after I found out.

It is still very hard to grasp the fact that she's no longer here but I know that God works in miraculous ways.  She was an absolute delight to be around.  She always and I mean ALWAYS had a smile on her face.  In 5 years of knowing her I can honestly say that I never once saw her get upset.  Even in her last moments, I was told she was asking everyone else if they were O.K.  She was truly an angel and in times like this understand that God has a greater purpose for why He does what He does.  She touched soooooo many lives in such a positive way which will make it easy to celebrate the life she lived.  God works in mysterious ways and I truly believe we should mind who we entertain for we may be entertaining angels.

Be blessed!

Hi Guys!

The other day when I was downtown I was in the mood to try something new for lunch.  I figured I would go into the first spot that caught my eye and the artwork behind Chomp Chomp did it for me!
The restaurant seriously looks like a hole in the wall and there is hardly enough room to move around in but I kinda liked that about them.  While I waited for my order, I sat at the counter and the rock band bar stools were pretty cool.  The one next to me was of Led Zeppelin.

I love Pineapple flavored pop and they had just that amongst other Jarritos Mexican sodas to choose from.  From what I've been told, the menu at Chomp Chomp changes frequently but I was in the mood to try something I normally wouldn't I an attempt to diversify my palette.  I went for the Panko Crusted Chicken Sandwich.
Now I know you're thinking what's so diverse about a Panko Crusted chicken Sandwich and my answer is nothing really however, the sandwich comes slathered in Blue Cheese that I normally don't care for.  I tried it and although the cheese had a sharp and tangy bite to it, the sandwich was really good.  It also came with homemade chips that had some type of All-Spice flavoring going on.  They tasted interesting but I'll probably go for a salad next time instead of chips.  All in all, I liked Chomp Chomp and for a hole in the middle of UrbanCore Jacksonville, they've got my vote on good quality food.

Hey dolls,

How are my peeps doing!?!?  Today has been just an O.K. day. It's raining, and dreary outside and everything just seems to be in slow motion.   It's been one of those days where everything is just "blah".  I'm ready to crawl in my bed and sleep the rest of the day away.  Ever have one of those days?

Anywho, here is an outfit that I wore to an event at my church a little while ago.
