Bloggers Birthday at Wine Cellar

Hi Dolls,

Last weekend, I met up with my girl Cathy to celebrate her birthday at the Wine Cellar.  I have been trying to make my way out to this restaurant for years and I am so glad I finally had the opportunity to dine there.  The location is very elegant and intimate and the food was good.
We got there a few minutes before our reservation and being the bloggers we are, decided to take OOTN pics! So here were our outfits for the evening!
Some of you may know the fabulous Cathy!  Her blog is Minister of Style and she has amazing style! Please check out her blog!  I LOVE her glasses and this super cute white summer dress!  The birthday girl looked fabulous for dinner!
My dress is ABS by Allen Schwartz, ShoeDazzle heels, and H&M belt!
Every year Jacksonville holds a two week event called Eat Up Downtown.  During this event several restaurants downtown offer  amazing 3 course,  prix fixe menus at one of three price points you can't beat.  $15, $25, and $35.  It gives visitors the opportunity to try great food at remarkable prices.  Wine Cellar was one of these restaurants so we agreed it was the perfect place to try for the occasion!

Here's what we had:
Parmesan, Basil and Garlic Stuffed Florida Guy Shrimp
This was AMAZING!  It was wrapped in applewood-smoked bacon and drizzled in classic beurre blanc.  We inhaled this shrimp. I would've been happy with just a big plate of these.
Blackened and Grilled Grass Fed Ribeye from Seminole Pride
It was flavorful and I loved the mashed potatoes, however, the only complaint I had was that my steak was not prepared the way I ordered it.  Instead of sending it back I just took mine home and finished cooking it to my liking the next day.  :)
Georgia Peaches and Cream Cobbler
I have to admit that I was sooooooo disappointed with the cobbler.  I was actually looking forward to this the most.  The peaches were not sweet at all so it was hard for me to enjoy the dessert.

The good news is that Cathy was given a slice of key lime cheesecake in honor of her birthday that was delicious so all was not lost!

The food was good overall and Cathy and I enjoyed a night full of laughter and fellowship!  I will certainly give Wine Cellar another try.  It'll be the perfect setting for a romantic date with my man!
As always, thanks for stopping by!
Take care.

Hey Dolls,

Since becoming more involved with the "food scene" in Jacksonville, I have really been getting my eat on lately which is exciting because I am being introduced to places I probably would've never gone to on my own like this super swanky little spot in the Five Points called BREW! I'm not the biggest fan of beer so when I received an invite to attend the event at BREW, I jumped right on it, seeing it as an opportunity to broaden my horizons in the field of brewery.
To my surprise, BREW specializes in craft beer, craft sodas, coffee, and artisan TOAST!  Yes, you read it correctly, toast.  I don't know about you, but I have never ever been to a bar/restaurant that serves specialty toast and you guys know how much I love bread!
This particular night we got to try the beer cocktails and to be completely honest, before the event I never knew such a thing existed. This is Jack, the man behind the beer madness! He made us four different beer cocktails: THE BERMOSA which was a beer mixed with O.J, THE SHANDY which was lemony beer mixed with simple syrup, THE RADLER which was made with beer, bitters and grapefruit juice, and my favorite, THE MOSCOW BULL which was made with ginger beer and lime.
These were some of the craft (non-alcoholic) sodas they had stocked in the coolers.
Ginger Ale: This soda had an incredible bite due to there being real bits of ginger in it.  Delicious!
Flying Cauldron Butterscotch Beer:  This soda reminded me of the Butter Beer from Harry Potter World in Orlando.  Delicious!
Hot Lips Raspberry soda:  My friend got this one so I didn't get to try it.

The artisan toast was very very interesting.  I wasn't sure what to expect because I usually just put a little butter and jelly on my toast LOL!  The sourdough bread used to make these treats come from a local bakery called Community Loaves and some of the toppings are made from Dig Foods, a vegetarian/vegan restaurant.

So here is the breakdown:

Community Loaves Rosemary Garlic Sourdough with Kimchi Jam, Goat Cheese and Arugula
I'm not a big fan of goat cheese but this was probably my favorite toast of the evening.  All of these flavors work very well together and I really enjoyed the kimchi jam believe it or not.
Community Loaves Currant Rye with Butter and Calamondin Marmalade
This toast reminded me of the butter and jelly toast I make at home.  It would go nicely with coffee.  I learned that calamondin is a citrusy fruit, similar to a kumquat.  Hey, you learn something new everyday!

Community Loaves Wheat with Butter, Chocolate-Pecan Sunflower Spread and Cashew Cream
Well, I thought these looked amazing but I liked these the least.  I was expecting some sort of sweet chocolatey treat with my fav, pecans but it fell completely short.  It wasn't horrible but wasn't great either.  It made me a little sad.

Overall, the event at BREW was wonderful!  I was able to try some new things and meet up with fun people!  This is the perfect location to meet up with friends after work for happy hour or for coffee on a Saturday morning!   I am definitely going to return for some beer cocktails and craft sodas!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by!
I'll be back soon!

Two for One

Hey Dolls,

School is officially back in session!  Let the "Teachers Have Style Too" series resume!  Well....this is actually what I wore to church last Sunday but I think it would work nicely for school as well. :)
Believe it or not, my outfit was built around this top.  This beautiful blue top is a peplum and the necklace came with the top!  I love when I can get two fashion items for the price of one.  The color jumped out at me and I knew I had to have it!
I didn't really like how the peplum looked out so I tucked it into these super cute pants and paired it with this mint blazer and heels!
It was very comfy but I had to come up out of that blazer on the way was almost 100 DEGREES Sunday!
(When is the cool weather coming in already!?!?!? )
 Blazer:  H&M
Top & Necklace: Ross
Pants:  Ross (I LOVE Ross!)
Heels: ShoeDazzle
Watch & Earrings: Michael Kors
Well guys I will be back soon!  Thank you so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week!

Earth Fare Gift Card Giveaway!!!! (CLOSED)

Hi Dolls!

Update:  A big THANK YOU goes out to everyone who participated in the giveaway!  This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to the randomly picked winner (, Morgan Hunter!  Check your email doll!

I am really excited to share this post with you all!  Earth Fare, a North Carolina based health food store had their grand opening this week in Jacksonville!  When I first heard that we were getting a new supermarket specializing in organic and natural food, I was immediately excited.  So, I was pleasantly surprised when I received an invitation to do a tour of the store the day before it opened.   I happily accepted the invite and of course I had to share it with you all!  Plus, one of you lovely readers will receive a $50 gift card to try Earth Fare for yourself !
(Compliments of Earth Fare!)
Throughout my guided tour, I learned a lot about their philosophy and one of the things I loved the most was the fact that their foods do not contain artificial flavors, high fructose corn syrup, or antibiotics and growth hormones!  Now that's "Real Food"!
For all of my Jax readers take a look at what we're getting!!!
Fresh produce!  All the colors of the rainbow for you to enjoy!

Earth Fare's mission is to connect communities and improve lives through food.  I was informed they get a lot of produce, meat and fish, as well as other food and drink items locally, which is awesome!  I love when companies like this support local businesses.  Organic produce is marked with a circular tag for "Organic" and conventional items are available as well.
(Please note that the prices marked in my pics are subject to change)
Nut Butters
You can make your own nut butters and honey is available on tap!  How cool is that?
I was really impressed with these little milk chocolate, M&M look alikes!  As I mentioned earlier, there are no artificial color and flavors in any of their products so can you guess what gave the little chocolate-ty morsels their bright and bold colors???  Natural vegetable juices!  They were amazeballs!
Tea and Coffee
Though Earth Fare doesn't have a pharmacy, the wellness section offers up an abundance of natural remedies.  There is a plethora of products available in this section of the store that would apply to just about every ailment one could have.  There are also experts and a computer to help guide you in finding the right product you may need.
Handmade Soap
Bulk Herbs and Spices
Organic Baby Food
Health conscious reading material!
When I first walked in, I could smell fresh bread baking.  It smelled heavenly!  My tour guide informed me that the vent at the front door connects all the way to the bakery on purpose.  I'm in trouble!

I love that the meat and seafood is grass-fed and wild harvested!  You really can taste the difference.  Much fresher.  Some of the seafood is local as well!
Speaking of local, I was excited when I saw these Hyppo Gourmet Ice Pops for sale in the freezer aisle.  They are made locally, in St. Augustine, as well!

Wine Finds!  I'm looking forward to trying the Earth Fare brand Big Tomato!
Here is another insider, the brown shelves mean that the products on the shelf is gluten-free!  The black shelves hold conventional items!  Easy shopping if you ask me!

More Goodies!
Some other cool options available are the raviolli freezer, vegan cookies, and charchuterie station!  I'm hosting a birthday party next month so I'm looking forward to getting a custom made charcuterie tray for the event!  I was informed that this option isn't available everywhere so we're pretty lucky Jax!

The Kitchen!

I was probably most impressed when I was told about the weekly food events including Burgers for a Buck, Take out Tuesday, and my fav, Family Dinner Night.  On Thursday nights, up to 6 kids under 12 eat for free as long as an adult spends at least $5.  That is really awesome!  I don't have kids but for someone with a big family, this is kind of a deal you can't beat!
They also have a rewards program called Tomato Bank as well as an app and text alert program!  You can read more about these programs on their website.

Cards, Baskets, and Shopping Bags
I am looking forward to doing a little grocery shopping there this weekend now that they are officially opened and one of you will receive a $50 gift card to do the same!

The rules for the giveaway are simple:
