Winter Menu at Bonefish Grill

Hi Dolls,

My sweetie and I decided to kick off my holiday break from school with a dinner at Bonefish Grill this past Friday.  Bonefish is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in town and I especially love it when they launch new menus.  I was invited out to try the new winter menu and honey, it did not disappoint at all!
Upon our arrival we were presented with the specials of the day  and decided to order a few items including the Lobster Stuffed Shrimp! It was butterflied shrimp with a creamy lobster and shrimp imperial stuffing, topped with a lemon caper butter sauce.  It was do succulent and delicious, I could've ordered two more and been satisfied for the evening!
One of our favorite appetizers at Bonefish Grill is the Thai Coconut Shrimp!  Although it's not on the winter menu we just had to indulge in its crunchy, sweet, and savory goodness.
This dish came highly recommended by the hostess and our waiter so we didn't want to miss out on the Crab Crusted Pompano!  This was a firm fish with a garlic and crab crust, topped with a crab and white wine lemon butter sauce.  It too, was amazing!
My guy couldn't resist getting the half pound burger!  He swears by it and believe me, it was worth every bite!  It was perfectly cooked to medium and had all the right toppings!
Our gracious waiter surprised us with the Macadamia Nut Brownie!  It was incredibly decadent and rich!  It was topped with a silky chocolate sauce, crunchy macadamia nuts, and served with a raspberry sauce, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream.  It was almost too pretty to eat!
For a night cap, we got one of their seasonal signature cocktails,  the Winter White Cosmo which was like Christmas in a glass!  It features Reyka Vodka, Cointreau, St.Germain Elderflower liqueur, white cranberry juice and fresh lime juice and is handcrafted to order.

We had a wonderful time and were super stuffed by the time we left!
Other items on their Winter Menu that we didn't try included:

Filet and Colossal Shrimp Scampi – a 6 ounce USDA Choice filet mignon topped with colossal shrimp, scampi butter sauce and served with steamed broccoli and garlic whipped potatoes.
If you're in the mood for  fancy fish, the Mahi Mahi Oscar, wood-grilled and topped with lump crab, asparagus and lemon butter sauce is sure to impress.

The Holiday Indulgent Spinach, Bacon + Blue Cheese Arctic Char, a delicate, mild, clean flavored fish wood-grilled, topped with spinach, bacon, and blue cheese with a lemon butter drizzle

Rhea’s Cobia a moist, firm fish with a sweet, yet distinct rich flavor wood-grilled, topped with sautéed spinach, lump crab and lime tomato garlic sauce.

Shopping My Closet Until Christmas!

Hi Dolls,

How was your Thanksgiving?  My Thanksgiving with family was pretty amazing!  I honestly feel like I put on a few pounds in the last few days.  Time to cleanse before Christmas!   Does anyone else feel my pain LOL?  I'm in serious Christmas countdown mode now!  What can I say, I'm just a big kid at heart!  It is truly my favorite time of year.  In the meantime, I'm back with a Sunday's Best Look!
I have been wanting to wear these heels since the day I purchased them, last summer.  The colors of the heels are perfect for this time of year and inspired my entire look.
In preparation for Christmas, I haven't been spending much on myself but shopping for others so this entire look was shopped from my closet.  Besides, I'm not the type of girl to wear something one time and be done with it.  I like to get my money's worth!  That's the fun part about fashion, you can re-purpose items to create entirely new looks!
Going back to the cute but not too comfy!  My toes had to get use to being super scrunched because of the way they're made.  The things we do for our love of fashionable things!
I still love them though!
Box Top:  Forever 21 (here)
Skirt:  H&M  (here)
Gold Belt:  Marshalls (similar)
Heels:  Circus by Sam Edelman (here)
Necklace:  Charming Charlie (similar)
So do you guys shop your closets often or do you buy new outfits often?
As always, thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week!

Ladies Night Out: Restaurant Medure

Hi Dolls,

Last night, several of my favorite foodie ladies and I decided to have an evening of wine and dining!   We decided on Restaurant Medure in Ponte Vedra and due to the fact that their wine is half price on Monday evenings, our decision was a no brainer.
For starters, we all indulged in a glass of wine or one of their amazing cocktails.  I had the Pinot Noir which was amazing!
This cocktail is called the Plum Dandy.  It is made with Campo de Encanto Acholado Pisco, Lemon Black Plum Shrub Syrup, Hibiscus, and Egg White!  Yes, egg white!  Who knew you can get your protein for the day in a cocktail!
Restaurant Medure owned by Executive Chef David Medure who also owns one of my favorite burger joints, M Shack (here)!  I love the burgers at M Shack so I was pretty confident that the fine dining alternative would not disappoint.  In no particular order here's what we had!
Arugula Salad:  served with local fall veggies, grilled zucchini, artichoke puree, and basil vinaigrette.
Medure's Meatball Slidersmade with fresh mozzarella and housemade marinara.
M Burger Sliders:  made with American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Pickles, and Shack Sauce....SO GOOD!
Lamb Sausage Slider:  Made with sauteed onions and peppers and provolone.
Truffle Fries:  Drizzled with Truffle oil and Parmesan!  These were so good I had to stop myself from eating too many of them.
Medure's Meatloaf:  This was so delicious!  It was a friend's dish but we all got a nibble off of it.
I've never seen meatloaf served with crispy onion rings but it totally worked and the whipped potatoes were almost to pretty to eat!  The veggies and the roasted crimini gravy were perfect!
Beef Carpaccio:  Served with a fried egg, mustard vinaigrette, arugula salad, and crostini.  Though I consider myself a foodie, I can not bring myself to eat raw food.  I just can't.  My friend who ordered this loved it though!
Fish and Chips:  Served with crispy spinach, malt vinegar, and lemon caper tartar sauce.  It was very good.
After we had great drinks, laughs, and good food, some of the ladies wanted something a little sweet!
The Souffle of the Day:  was a Chocolate Pistachio Souffle.  It was pretty tasty but the winner for the evening was the.....
Fuji Apple Streusel Tart:  This dessert was simply perfection served with honey ice cream and apple molasses.  Can you say decadence?!?!?!

We had an amazing time!  Restaurant Medure is the perfect place for date night, ladies night, or an evening of fine dining with your family.  The ambiance was beautiful and they are in a great location in Ponte Vedra.
As always, thanks so much for stopping by!  If I'm not back before Thursday, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

AASavory Scents

Hi Dolls,

This post is going to be a little different from the norm but after meeting this dynamic duo of young ladies, I had to share their story with you!  I  recently had the pleasure of being introduced to AASavoryScents, a small business ran by an adorable duo of sisters, Angelina and Avana who are only 6 and 9 years old!
I'm sure most would agree that lemonade stands come to mind when you hear of children going into business for themselves.  Well, not Angelina and Avana!  Though they did give a lemonade stand the ole' honest try, they wanted something a little more lucrative.  Like any good business owner, they did their research and with the help of their parents, created  AASavory Scents, where quality scents are their business!
They specialize in home fragrance oils and tarts for a very reasonable price!  I had the pleasure of sampling the fragrances, Lovely, Pineapple Sage, and Blueberry Cheesecake!  Savory scents indeed!  They smelled edible!
These young ladies definitely know what they're doing because the fragrances are right on par with the well-known fragrance oils out of our favorite stores in the mall.  They last long and the smell great!
Some of their other fragrances include Fruit Loops and Cotton Candy!  As great as the scents I sampled were, I'm sure these two will smell like a candy store!  There is so much to admire about young entrepreneurs! They are on to something at such a young age!  You can find out more at their website here.  They even have a super cute personalized greeting and song once you go on their site!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!

Black Booties and Leather Sleeves

Hi Dolls,

Although it still pretty warm here in sunny Florida,  I am ready for boots,  booties, and coats!  A slightly cool morning breeze is enough for me to pull out the winter clothes.  My friend, Krystle, gifted these booties to me and I couldn't wait for an excuse to rock them!
Speaking of winter, I've also been waiting to rock this shirt and skirt I purchased last summer.  I didn't think the fabric and colors would be appropriate for any other time of year.  The leather sleeves in this top were what sold me on this top.  It's so simple yet so chic!
By the way, this is not a dress!  I love it when two pieces from two completely different stores match perfectly!  Gotta love fashion!
Top:  J. Crew
Skirt: Banana Republic
Booties:  Gift
I literally threw this outfit together in a couple of minutes.  I love it in all of its simplicity and the booties gave it just enough edge without going overboard.
I already have ideas about how to rework this look next time!  I'm thinking statement necklace and vest...hmmmm!
As always thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great week!

Tropical Smoothie Cafe Giveaway!!! (Closed)

Hi Dolls,

I'm always down for a healthy meal that doesn't lack in the flavor department so I was excited to meet up with my friend, Krystle for lunch at Tropical Smoothie Cafe yesterday!  I've always enjoyed their smoothies and wraps so lunch was a no brainer.  This particular day we were in the mood for something a "little naughty and something a little nice" so we decided to try some of their limited time offer menu items!
The Blueberry Pom Truffle smoothie was sinfully devine!  It is made with Ghirardelli white chocolate!  I mean, come on!!!  They had me at Ghirardelli!  It was very good and super sweet.  Krystle was happy to stake her claim over this "naughty" smoothie and I happily indulged in the Blueberry Bliss smoothie which was the perfect mix of bluberries, strawberries, and banana!
They also have new grilled chicken sandwiches on brioche, which is one of my favorite types of bread and for the first time ever, Tropical Smoothie Cafe has partnered with FRANK'S Red Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce to spice up the new Island Buffalo Sandwich! Needless to say, we had to try this sandwich!
This sandwich was everything you want in a hot wing...on a bun!  It was made with grilled chicken, mozzarella and gorgonzola cheese, topped with tangy, house-made slaw tossed in citrus dressing, and covered in a mouthwatering buffalo cheese spread.  It was definitely an exciting flavor combination!
Avocado and bacon are two of my favorite things so I was also excited to try The Moho Mojo Chicken Club!  This sandwich is served with bacon, avocado, a zesty mojo sauce, and is topped with a signature slaw to satisfy anyone craving a delicious, full-flavored sandwich!

Il Desco

 Hi Lovelies,

This Thursday, Il Desco, Jacksonville's newest modern Italian restaurant, will be opening its doors to the public!  The restaurant is located where the old Pele's Wood Fire use to be and is a beautiful site on the corner of Park Street!  I attended a menu preview last Friday and I'm pretty optimistic that Il Desco will fit in nicely with Riverside's eclectic food scene!
The new reconfiguration of the dining room layout is gorgeous!  Design Cooperative did a beautiful job opening up the space and adding a stylish and contemporary flair! I mean, would you just look at these chandeliers! I would love to have some of these in my house!    They're definitely an eye catcher as soon as you walk in!
The restaurant has 150 seats with a 20 seater community table being a focal point.  This makes perfect sense being that Il Desco means "the dinner table"! It's made with century-old wood that has been restored. I've always liked the idea of communal dining but I appreciate the fact that there are more intimate seating options as well.
There is also a full bar with 13 beers on tap, 26 wines by the glass and 125 wines by the bottle.
There's is also a full wine room and two cocktails on rotatation, available on tap, served with fresh shaved ice or cubed ice.
Speaking of cocktails, I had the opportunity to try several.  My kind of Friday night!
The Negroni was my favorite and happened to be one of the cocktails on tap.  It was very fresh with a hint of sweetness.
My second favorite was The Daquiri.  As you can see, it is definitely not what one may think when they hear Daquiri but it was a nice cocktail. Not too strong and not too sweet.
There are several talented chefs under the direction of Executive Chef Brennan Pickren, who prepared an evening of fabulous cuisine for us to sample.
There's a raw bar with locally caught seafood including oysters, clams, shrimp, and daily crudo offerings.  I love it when local restaurants use local meat and produce.  They are dedicated to using local products as often as possible.
Il Desco has a menu full of classic Italian dishes with modern twists, including house-made pastas, sandwiches, salads, grilled entrées, and wood-fired pizzas!!!
Here is some of what we sampled off of the menu:
Oysters:  Served with fennel and orange mignonette, cocktail sauce, horseradish, and fresh lemon.
Grilled Octopus:  Served with puttanesca, arugula, crispy garlic, and squid ink.
Margherita Pizza:  Made with San Marzano tomatoes, fresh pulled mozzarella, basil, and olive oil.
The Garden Party Pizza: Made with roasted brussels sprouts, rapini, tomato, wild mushroom, smoked provolone, mozarella, ricotta, and prosciutto.
Spaghettini Arrabiatta:   Tomato sauce, red chili, shaved Parmigianno-Reggiano, basil, and an extra large meatball!
Lobster Cavatelli:  Maine Lobster, fresno peppers, lobster cream, and herbs.
Chicken Milanese:  Springer Mountain pan roasted breaded chicken, brown butter, white wine, garlic, shallots, heirloom tomatoes, and Parmigiano-Reggiano.
Everything was beautifully plated! I love trying new things so my favorite dish of the evening would have to be the Garden Party pizza!  I would never think of a combination of brussel sprouts and procuitto for a pizza but it totally works!
Il Desco opens this Thursday and considering the fact that they are operated by "Forking Amazing Restaurants" who also operate some of Jax's favs like Ovinte and Bistro Aix, I'm sure Il Desco will be right on par!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by!  Stay Hungry!
