Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Primer and Touche Eclat Blur Perfector Review!

Hi Dolls!

I have been a member of Influenster for a couple of years now and have received some pretty awesome voxboxes but my most recent voxbox was by far the coolest!  I was chosen to receive the Yves Saint Laurent voxbox and thrilled doesn't even begin to describe my feelings when I found out!
I received two of YSL's newest products, Touche Eclat Blur Perfector and Touche Eclat Blur Primer, both of which came beautifully packaged in YSL's signature gold boxes.
The pink compact with gold trim is gorgeous and I truly adore looking at it with the rest of my make-up collection.

The Touche Eclat Blur Primer is like any other primer.  It preps the skin for foundation application by smoothing out the skin tone and minimizing pores.
There are a couple of things I like most about this primer.  For starters, there are shimmery yet subtle, gold flecks throughout the primer that gives the skin a more luminous and radiant look.  I also love that this product is incredibly moisturizing being enriched with nourishing oils like apricot oil, corn oil, passiflora oil, and rice bran oil.

Although there are shimmery gold flecks, they do not appear once the primer is blended into the skin.
The YSL Touche Eclat Blur Perfector is a universal compact, complimentary to all skin tones.  It is made to perfect the skin and minimize pores while allowing it to maintain its natural glow.  It is silky and smooth to touch and can be used a couple of ways.  It can transform from a balm into a powder upon application, softening the skin's imperfections or it can be used alone to even out your complexion, set make-up, or sweep away shine.  This was perfect for me since my face tends to get pretty oily throughout the day.  I liked the way it felt as I applied it.  It was very smooth and got rid of the shine with out grabbing the rest of my make-up.
The packaging was stunning!  I mean you really can't go wrong with gold, black, and pink!  It's so chic (and matches my blog!)!  It also came with a cute black carrying case and a white applicator.
With the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer retailing for $52.00 and the Touche Eclat Blur Perfector retailing for $55.00, I am blessed to have been given the opportunity to try them both for free.
I enjoyed how both of the products mattified my foundation and eliminated that T-zone shine that I get just about everyday! The packaging was absolutely stunning and the products applied nicely.  You can purchase both of these products at Sephora and YSL themselves, of course.  I am definitely happy that Influenster included me on this voxbox!  If you're not a member, you should be!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by!

Disclaimer:  I received these products courtesy of Influenster for review.  However, my opinions were my own and 100% honest and unbiased.

Neon for Church!

Hey Dolls,

So, I know that I'm not the only person who has been guilty of purchasing a pair of shoes before knowing what to wear them with!  I bought this fabulous pair of neon yellow pumps on Saturday and was so in love with them that I was determined to wear them to church the next day!  My only hesitation was weather or not I could tone the neon down enough for service.

I decided I would wear the heels along with a matching necklace as pops of color in my otherwise black, blue, and white ensemble.

I think the heels and necklace added just enough interest without going overboard.

I seriously can't wait to wear these heels again.  Next time it will be with something a little more casual but I am in love with the color.  I'm not certain that these photos do them justice.  They're much more stunning in person!

Knead Bakeshop

Hey Dolls!

Though I don't always have it (shame on me), breakfast is probably my favorite meal of the day!  Knead Bakeshop, which is perfect for breakfast, is located in Murray Hill.  It's in between two other amazing local spots, Maple Street Biscuit Company and Bold Bean Coffee and it definitely fits right in!
There are several things I love about Knead.  The location is intimate with a very welcoming ambiance.  They have adorable white picnic tables that are used for community dining.
 Their menu is pretty limited...
but I love that they offer pastries, breakfast, and lunch all of which are baked in house!
I saw some of my favorite pastries like monkey bread, chocolate croissants, muffins, and quiche!  I was pretty excited!
The order numbers are fabulous!  They feature iconic music artists with Prince being the best one, of course!
As for what I ordered, anyone who know me well, knows that I love bread!  So croissants and biscuits are an absolute must for me!
This almond croissant was as amazing as it looks!  It paired perfectly with my coffee.  It may be a good thing that they don't open until 7am because I am already at work.  If they opened any earlier, making a stop there every morning before work for an almond croissant and coffee could get my waistline in some trouble!
Their Bacon Cheddar Biscuit was recommended to me and I understand why!  The biscuit is made with...you guessed it, bacon and cheddar and the sausage on the biscuit was so savory.  The only thing you have to make sure to do is ask for your egg over hard if you're not into runny eggs like me.  I didn't and my sandwich was full of runny egg yolk.  It was still delish though!
On my most recent trip, I got the loaded croissant which came with a chewy croissant stuffed with sausage, egg, and cheese!  So good! It sure beats the heck out of those chain restaurant breakfast sandwiches who we will NOT speak of here!
This sandwich was so good I had to show you two shots of it!

I definitely love Knead Bakeshop and need to make a trip back to try some of their lunch sandwiches like the Jamon Serrano and Ham and Brie.  They also offer weekend brunch specials which I hear now includes mimosas!  I am always down for that!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a wonderful week!

Last Days of Summer in a Maxi

Hi Lovelies,

This summer has been pretty flippin' amazing!  I did a lot of traveling, knocked out a couple of bucket list items, and just had an all around summer of fun!  Summer time is always perfect for easy wardrobes.
Maxi dresses are my go to for the summer wear!  With the Florida heat, who has time to fuss with fancy clothes?!?!  Maxi dresses are easy to throw on, light weight, and and come is so many varieties!  They are so stylish and can be dressed up or down.  I love that type of versatility in clothing.
This one came from one of my favorite stores, H&M!
Now that my summer is coming to a close, it's time for me to get back into teacher mode and I'm pretty excited to get this school year started!  "Teachers Have Style Too" will commence again and who knows I may keep the maxi and throw a blazer on for a cute teacher look!

What is your staple look for summer?

As always, thanks so much for stopping by!

Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse

Hey Dolls,

I recently attended a dinner at a new Brazilian steakhouse on the Southside of town called Terra Gaucha and if you know anything about Brazilian steakhouses, you know that they are a carnivores delight. To that end, Terra Gaucha did not disappoint!
As in any other Brazilian steakhouse, Terra Gaucha has a salad bar with all the fixings but let's keep it real, if I know I'm going to be dining at a Brazilian steakhouse, I'm not saving room for anything but MEAT!  I didn't even touch the plantains and fried polenta given to our table.
Bring on the MEAT!!!
In Brazilian Steakhouse fashion, gauchos bring around meat upon meat upon meat for as long as you can stand it.  You tell them what cut you'd like, rare or well done, they slice it, you grab it with your adorable tongs, and enjoy! Here is some of what we had!
 Garlic Picanha  (Top Sirloin)
This is Terra Gaucha's signature cut which is also the most popular Brazilian cut of beef.
Tender Pork Spare Ribs
Garlic Steak which was my fav!
 Lamb Chops
We also had beef tenderloin, bottom sirloin, rib eye, beef ribs, bacon-wrapped chicken and sausage (which was amazing) but I was probably too busy stuffing my face to capture a picture!  Take my word for it, everything was good!
My friend Sharon looks wayyyyyy to excited for that piece of meat!  LOL!
This plate is a carnivorous treat for sure!  If you notice the red and green medallions, they're kind of like green light/red light.  If the green side is up, the gauchos will continue to serve you.  If the red side is up, they will stop.
Last but not least, dessert and I'm going to be honest with you...I didn't touch it because I was ready to burst at the seams.  It was Caramel Custard and from what I was told, it was delicious.

Everything at Terra Gaucha was extremely flavorful and my goodness, you can seriously fall into a meat coma with the amount of meat you're offered!  You will definitely get your money's worth but my advice is to go on a completely empty stomach or you'll be sorry!  Trust me!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by!

You Can Totally Rock Pumps with Shorts!

Hey Dolls,

I recently had a friendly debate with a couple of coworkers about shorts and pumps.  They believe shorts should be reserved for sneakers or flat sandals (i.e. flip flops) and that pairing them with pumps is doing too much.  Well,  being the high heel loving, self proclaimed fashionista that I am, I was determined to prove them wrong!

I put together this look last weekend with them in mind!
(Hey Girls!)
 photo DSC_6187_zpsad0zjfhc.jpg
I'm not sure if my sheer infactuation with high heels makes me bias towards the shorts and heels situation, but I think heels looks great with anything!  I know my fellow fashionistas out there would agree with me.  Plus these particular heels I was wearing, were nude so they made me look a little taller!  Don't you just love how heels will do that for you!?!

High heels will make a pair of scrubs look good, honey!

I love my coworkers and these discussions we have about fashion!  Though I do like shorts with a cute pair of chucks or perhaps some flat gladiators, my loyalty will forever be with my beloved high heel!  I'm calling all fashionistas to chime in!

What is your take on shorts and high heels?

As always, thanks for stopping by!

Marilyn Monroe Spas

Hey Dolls,

Not too long ago, my friend and fellow blogger, Cathy and I attended the opening of Marilyn Monroe Spas Nail Lounge in Riverside.  I was in desperate need of a manicure so the opening couldn't have come at a better time!
The nail lounge is very chic and girly!  My type of salon if you ask me!  There were larger than life pictures of Marilyn Monroe throughout and even a red carpet from the front to the back of the spa.  It took everything in me not to strut the carpet as if I was on a runway.
This is a full service spa offering facials, manis/pedis, waxing. and massages. Everyone is very sweet and professional and you're definitely catered to as a client! You're seated in a leather lounge chair, given a pillow and blanket if needed, and your own personal equipment for your mani or pedi that you can take home with you.  On this particular evening we had champagne too!
I love that the decor is subtle with pops of red!  I also learned that they host private events as well so if you're looking for somewhere chic to take the ladies for a bridal retreat, this would be perfect.
My nail tech was busy working her magic on my nails!  She was so friendly and answered all of my questions in depth.
Of course, Cathy and I took the opportunity to pose for the camera in front of the signage!
One thing that I found interesting was that they use their own products.
Their polishes are vegan and cruelty-free with out the use of toxins such as formaldehyde, DBP, and toulene.  The only downside with this is that the polish didn't last very long at all.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Marilyn Monroe Spas Nail Lounge.  The atmosphere is super chic and inviting, the nail techs are very nice and willing to help you in anyway possible.  The price for a mani and pedi is $65 so the next time I visit it'll be for one or the other!  If you have one in your area, check them out.  They'd be the perfect place to go for a little pampering.
As always, thanks for stopping by!
