"The" Shoe for Less

Hi Dolls,

I'm as crazy for heels as the next shoe-loving fashionista but I have to admit that while I will spend a little extra on a sweet pair of pumps every now and again, some are just way too over my budget.  The infamous Valentino studded heels are one of those drool-worthy pair of heels that are grossly out of my price range.  I, however, found a look-a-like that is just as nice for a very small fraction of what the original costs!  Hey there's no shame in my game but for those who've got it like that, I'm not mad at ya!

Nevertheless, I think these shoes are pretty fab and I received several compliments on them the day I wore this outfit!  Not to mention they are super comfy.  I wore them all day with no problems!

Considering the aformentioned, I am still longing for a pair of Christian Louboutins!!!  I'll shell the money out for at least one nice pair....one of these days!

What do you guys think?
Would you spend a mortgage payment on a pair of heels or wear the look alike for the less than the price of pedicure?

As always, thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a great weekend!

Who Wants Free Glasses?!?!?!

Hi Lovelies,

Some of you may not know that I wear glasses!  Yep, that's right, your girl can't see without corrective lenses.  Most of the time I wear contacts but every now and again I have to let my eyes breathe!  I was in need of a new pair of glasses so it was perfect timing when I was contacted by GlassesShop.com to review a pair of theirs!  I think this was an ideal dress down "Teacher Look" with the eyeglasses, no make-up, and flats!  I was still cute though!

I am pretty impressed with GlassesShop!  They have a large variety of stylish and  cheap glasses, or shall I say affordable glasses,  that are of pretty good quality! Like I mentioned earlier, I was in the market for some new eye wear so I ordered prescription eyeglasses.  I thought it would be difficult to order glasses online with the prescription but it was really easy and they had my new glasses to me within a reasonable time frame!

There were so many different frames to choose from but I was happy with the ones I picked because helllooooo...who doesn't love tortoise shell?!?!?  These are the Desan Rectangle frames.  They also have prescription sunglasses as an option as well! This  may be my next purchase because even though it's officially fall, the sun is still showing up stronger than ever, here in "Sunny Florida"!    photo f2916ffd-d1e0-4a4f-b233-6bb7136d1134_zpscffv4ixw.jpg
Glasses Shop is currently having a big campaign where you get your FIRST PAIR of GLASSES for FREE!!!  Now, you all know I love free!!!  So all new customers can have a pair of free glasses with the exception of shipping and handling.

PDQ Fresh Tour

Hi Dolls,

I was recently invited to do a Fresh Tour of the Julington Creek PDQ and since I'm relatively familiar with the franchise, as they always "hook" teachers up during Teacher Appreciation Week, I was excited for the opportunity to do the tour and find out a little more about what PDQ is all about!

One can't help but wonder what P.D.Q. stands for and I found out that it stands for "People Dedicated to Quality" and after my tour I understand why.
This particular location has been open for about a year now and is literally the first restuarant you see when entering Julington Creek.  The inside is very clean and spacious and I love the handwashing station!  I can honestly say that I've never seen this in a restaurant outside of the restroom.
The first thing I noticed when I walked in were the cases of Cheerwine stacked up near the counter.
I discoverd that Cheerwine is a cherry flavored soft drink that originated out of North Carolina.  It's not too often you come across a cherry flavored soda so it is definitely a nice alternative to your regular sodas.
However, if you're not one for change, no worries, PDQ has tea and all the Coke products you can think of!
We began the tour in the back where I was informed that they have no freezers so no need to worry about pre-packaged, frozen food. They have a walk-in fridge that keeps everything properly chilled.  Everything is freshly made to order which is always a plus.  There's nothing worse than getting premade food.
I also learned that all of their sauces are made in house.  They have some pretty awesome sauces.  They offer honey mustard, bbq, and ranch, just to name a few.  My favorite is the Honey BBQ.
Next stop was "the fries" (SIDENOTE:  The movie Coming To America" just popped in my head! I'm sure my movie buffs know why!!!lol!) Anywho, I digress.  Besides, chicken tenders, PDQ is well-known for their hand-cut fries.
Before added to the fryer, fresh Idaho potatoes are cut into fries, cleaned and soaked to rinse off all of the extra starch, baked, and chilled.  This gets rid of a lot of unnecessary things we don't need.  No frozen bags of fries here!
I learned that not only do they sell chicken tenders, but chicken breast, turkey, and most recently chicken nuggets,  All of this was a surprise to me because I thought they only sold chicken tenders.
One of PDQ's emphasis is on fresh ingredients which are prepared daily.
Most people love a good piece of fried chicken, whether it be a nugget, tender, or breast but PDQ recently created a sandwich called "The Chelsey"  which is a little more of a healthier option (with the exception of bacon.....but I will always and forever want the bacon!).
The sandwich comes with a juicy piece of grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing, and my two favorites...bacon and avocado! I love good food with out the guilt.
The chicken nuggets may give some of my favs from another franchise a run for the money.  They're a little bigger, good flavor, and you have more dipping sauces to choose from.....uh oh!
Then there's this guy...the handspun cookies and creme milkshake!  Seriously one of the best shakes I've had, to date!
PDQ Jacksonville: Julington Creek Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato
Overall, I can say that after my behind the scenes Fresh Tour, I understand how PDQ is able to live up to their name!  A lot of effort is put into making the food as fresh as possible.  I can definitely appreciate that, especially from a fast-food establishment.  Not only do they prepare fresh and quality food, the customer service is impeccable.  I can see PDQ being aropund for a while.   I learned that there are now 3 PDQs in Jacksonville!  If your in the Julington Creek area, definitely check them out and thank me later.
As always, thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!

J. Crew Garden Pants in Gold Foil Leaf!

Hi Lovelies,

Last summer, while in J. Crew, my eyes fell upon these gorgeous pants and I was determined to have them in my life!

These "Garden Pants in Gold Foil Leaf" are absolutely stunning!   The first time I saw them was while on vacation in Tampa.  I wanted them so badly but they were all out in my size.  Imagine my disappointment.

When I returned to Jacksonville, I hurried out to our Town Center's J.Crew and not only did they have these beauties in my size, but they were on sale at a whopping 60% off!!!
 photo IMG_6626_zps8vak5el3.jpg
I've learned in more ways than one that good things come to those who wait and guess what else...they're still on sale for anyone who may want them!

I'm not sure if you can tell but the leaves on these pants are outlined in a gold foil material which is stunning in person!  I definitely plan on getting more outfits out of these bad boys so be on the look out!  I'm thinking a white top with gold accessories next time!

Teachers Have Style Too: Chambray Shirtdress

Hi Dolls,

Some may wonder if jeans are appropriate for a teacher to wear to school and I would say not as an everyday staple.  As teachers, it's definitely important for us to look professional at all times.  Most principals reserve  a business casual, jeans and a polo kind of day for Fridays.  However, you could totally get away with wearing a chambray shirtdress to work on a Monday!
I love this dress, first because it's chambray and come on, who doesn't love a chambray dress, but secondly for the ever so subtle high-low cut!  Bet you didn't even notice, did ya? It's long enough to be worn as a dress and if you're feeling froggy, you can get away with rocking it with some pants as well.
I added a statement necklace......
...and a pop of red with the wedges.
(RED always looks great with denim!)
And there you have it!  A cute, fuss-free, comfortable, teacher appropriate look for the day!
ShirtDress:  Banana Republic / similar
Wedges:  TOMS via Nordstrom/ here
Necklace:  TJMaxx
This was a super easy look to throw together on the first day back after a long holiday weekend!  We all know how much of a struggle it is to get ready for work after an extra day off!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by!

Teachers Have Style Too: Matchy-Matchy First Day of School!

Hey Dolls!

School is back in session so "Teachers Have Style Too" is back for its best year to date!  My goal this year is to show more of my teacher-friendly outfits and showcase other fabulous teachers with great style as well.  More on this new feature is soon to come!  In the meantime, this was my "matchy-matchy" look for the first day back with the kiddos!
 photo 339309a0-f18d-4bd1-bcf0-ec4a433cef5e_zpsu1x5mkzy.jpg
When I first set eyes on this cognac colored blazer, I knew I HAD to have it!!!  I think blazers are perfect for school because you can dress them up or wear them casually and still look professional! I think I may need to invest in blazers of all colors!
 photo DSC_0700_zpsztsfl3s7.jpg
My pants matched perfectly with the blazer!  I know some fashionistas out there go against the "matchy-matchy" look but sometimes it just works and in the case of the first day back to school, it worked out quite nicely if I do say so myself!
 photo DSC_0698_zpsg9epv2mv.jpg
I can't forget about the shoes which blended right in as well!  The heel wasn't too high or skinny so they were pretty comfortable to walk around in all day!

My first day back was great!  I have a group of students who are eager to learn and are looking forward to a year of greatness!  Besides, I expect nothing less!
