Biggie Biggie, Gimme One More...Slice

Biggie, Biggie, gimme one more....slice!

That's exactly what I was thinking once I finished my lunch at Biggie's Pizza last week.  I have been wanting to get to the beach to try out Biggie's for a while now so I took total advantage of the opportunity when I was in the area recently!
This is definitely the hippest new pizza joint in town and is a family ran business consisting of a cousin and a couple of brothers who grew up in Queens, New York.  It's no secret that they are bringing the authenticity when it comes to great tasting New York style pizza.
The location is very quaint but I think that just adds to the local charm.  I absolutely LOVE the decor, especially the Biggie mural, all of the Biggie quotes, vinyl records, and choice of music playing in the background.  I told one of the owners that I was expecting to hear Biggie playing and he told me I had to come back at night.  I will certainly be taking him up on that because this place was awesome!
On my way there, I already knew I wanted pizza.  They also have sandwiches, garlic, knots, and desserts that I will make a point to try at some point but for today, pizza was what I wanted!  They had so many pizza options but I went with what I know, the deluxe...Brooklyn Deluxe to be exact!
Oh, and because it was 5 o'clock somewhere, I got a nice glass of Riesling to wash down my slice.  I'd like to mention that they gave me my kind of pour, about 3/4 of a glass.  I appreciate them even more for not being skimpy with the wine!
This picture doesn't do this slice of pizza any justice.  In true NY style, the slice was quite large, full of toppings, and full of flavor!    Call me girly if you must but I really wanted to use a fork and knife to eat my slice.  The slice was so big, full of toppings, and a tad on the greasy side, so it was a little tough to hold with out anything falling off.  I managed and it was delicious from first bite to crust.

Off The Shoulder, Mixed Prints, and Bows

Hi Dolls,

I am totally loving off the shoulder tops this season!  They're so versatile and they make me feel super girly!  I'm also loving the color yellow this spring.  It's very complementary to my skin tone.  For this look I decided to do a little print mixing and added striped trousers with the gingham print, off the shoulder crop top.
I'm usually not the one to bare my mid-drift but with the trousers being high-waisted, it totally worked out in my favor.  Plus a little mid-drift never hurt nobody!
I kept the accessories minimal.
And since the trousers stop slightly above the ankle, I added strappy sandals for interest!
I can't get over how cute the bows are on both the top and bottom!  I almost feel like the bows can pass for accessories in their own right.
What do you think?

The day was absolutely gorgeous when we took these photos!  I am enjoying this warm Florida weather now before the scorching summer sun rears it's "hot head"!
How adorbs are these yellow flower sandals?  ShoeDazzle has so many fabulous shoes this spring, it's hard to resist purchasing everything!

Color for Days!

Hi Dolls,

Spring is completely sprung (at least in my neck of the woods) and I am totally here for it!  The sun is out in full effect and everything just looks and feels bright and cheery!  I've been working on a complete spring cleaning of my life and my closet is where I started.  I got rid of a ton of things that I've been holding on to for years be it for sentimental reasons or with the mindset of "Oh I'm sure I could wear that somewhere, someday".  While cleaning, I came across this jacket I purchased last winter and with all of the colors, it definitely puts me in the mood for spring!
Speaking of cheerful and colorful, I love working with the photographer (who also happens to be a friend of mine).  We have a ton of inside jokes and spend most of our shoots laughing hysterically at stuff!  Laughing makes for great candid shots!
Because of the variety of colors in the jacket, I went with a solid black jumper underneath.  I didn't want the outfit to become too busy.

I recently purchased these adorable yellow sandals and they were a perfect match for the look!
Is it me or does a good pair of aviators give you all the confidence in the world?  I was totally feeling myself in these shades?  The multicolored tint matched the look I was going for without being too much!
And can we talk about the tassels on the end of this jacket?  Cute right!?!  They add a little more interest to this already fab jacket!
So as a blogger who is always on the hunt for cool places to shoot, I have discovered some hidden gems around the city!  I'm so grateful for this hobby of mine because it has allowed me to appreciate a place I once found unvaried and mundane.
I live for a graffiti backdrop!  Where's your favorite places to take photos?

Urban Bean Coffehouse Cafe

Hi Dolls,

I was excited when I heard @NateDoesFood would be having a "Coffee and Donuts" event at The Urban Bean because I mean who doesn't love that combination!  Plus I have had this place on my radar for a while and this event gave me the perfect opportunity to make my way out to Orange Park!
First and foremost, I love the look of the cafe!  The exposed brick walls, wooden benches, and piano adds so much charm to this swanky coffee house!  I also love that they have outdoor seating available which is where the event was held.  The weather was perfect for the occasion.
I have heard so many great things about Urban Beans menu.  They offers sweet and savory dishes along with amazing coffee, tea, and craft cocktails so when I saw the event menu, I was excited to have the chance to try a variety of things.
I have to start off with my favorite of the evening, the vegan-friendly Pandan and coconut donut! I'd never heard of Pandan before and discovered it is a tropical plant found in Southeast Asia and used often in Southeast Asian cuisine.  Paired with coconut, it added a wonderful flavor to very green pastry!
Next up was the Fat Elvis!  Can you guess what it's made with?
This donut was topped with whipped peanut butter, bananas, a drizzle of caramel, and my favorite, bacon!  I'm glad all of the donuts were cut in half because this is definitely a treat I wouldn't be able to finish, if I had a full meal before hand.
The Sea Salt Chocolate Espresso donut was semi-sweet and paired perfectly with the coffee.  Unlike the Fat Elvis, this would be ideal for a breakfast treat with your morning coffee.
I have a new found respect for Matcha Green Tea.  If I can get past my coffee obsession, I will start drinking these more instead of coffee.  It's a lot better for your health from what I've been told.  It doesn't taste half bad either.  It's also frothy enough for latte art which I adore!
There are a few items I enjoyed that weren't photographed, including the South of the Border bowl!  If you love tex-mex, this dish is right on par!  It's made with scrambled eggs, seasoned brown rice, tomato, onion, green peppers, and green chili pepper.  It's a perfect dish if you're in the mood for a savory breakfast!  Add a little hot sauce and it's money!
We also go to sample a few of their savory flat breads including the BBQ Chicken , Margherita, and Black Bean.  They were all delicious but my favorite was the Margherita flatbread!  It was made with fresh garlic, tomato, fresh basil, mozzarella, and balsamic!  It was the perfect marriage of sweet and savory!
To wash every thing down, I enjoyed this drink!  The Shakerato!  It's an organic and kosher certified espresso shaken with sugar and ice and the perfect cold brewed coffee if you ask me!

I was pleased with my first trip to Urban Bean!  The next time I'm in the area, I will definitely stop in for a caffeine fix and sweet treat!  As always, thanks so much for stopping by!

A Romper and Statement Earrings

Hi Dolls,

One thing for certain, two things for sure, if you live in Florida, you probably have an affinity for being around bodies of water. At least this is what I've been told by native Floridians.  I'm a Texas girl at heart so I'll admit, I don't really favor swimming in large bodies of water, unless I'm snorkeling, of course.  However, I absolutely LOVE looking at it and having accessibility to it when ever the urge to go swimming in the ocean strikes (which is far and few in between)!  Plus having a pretty view of water from my home was a major selling point for me!  There's nothing more pleasant than looking at water glisten when the sun hits it just right!  It also makes one heck of a backdrop for super cute outfits like this off-the-shoulder Tobi romper!  It's perfect for spring, spending time on a boat, or hanging out on a dock like I was this day!

I avoided wearing a necklace because it is an off the shoulder look and I didn't want to take away from that so I decided to pair the romper with my favorite statement earrings instead!
This romper is so cute I didn't want anything overpowering it so I think the earrings added the right amount of interest, pulling the entire look together without over doing it!
To keep the entire look light and airy, I paired the  outfit with my favorite nude heels.
  So quick story...
Across the way were a few people working on what seemed to be a backyard project.   So naturally, I lifted up my shades to get a better look....not because I'm nosey or anything.
My nosiness got the best of me and my staring became quite obvious so they did the neighborly thing and waved!  I waved, shot them a smile, and prayed I wouldn't fall into the St. Johns River while trying to be cute!
As long as I held on to the rail, I was good! HAHA!

The "Good" Life

Hi Dolls,

I can't think of anything else that screams "SPRING" more than bright colors and floral prints!  On top of that, I am loving the embroidery trend this season!  This explains why I immediately fell in love with the Emily Embroidered Maxi Dress by Tobi as soon as I saw it!  It's flowy, it's feminine, and it's absolutely perfect for the new season. Isn't it amazing how embroidery adds so much interest to what would've otherwise been pretty blase?!?  Gotta love fashion!
I also love the sheer bottom of the dress that's giving you all a little peek-a-boo at these thighs once again!  In my eyes, this dress was a win-win from the start!
As I write this post, I'm thinking back to what was going through my mind during this photo shoot.  Being surrounded by that beautiful architecture and being in the midst of that absolutely gorgeous Florida day, I was reflecting on how good life is!
It's so easy to focus on the things we don't have, goals not yet accomplished, weight that won't seem to fall off, that we often forget about all the great talents we hold, the wonderful experiences we're privy to, and the beautiful things that surround us day in and day out.
I remembered promising myself, back in January, that this year I would focus on being more positive and expressing more gratitude!
Everyday I am striving to put more energy into that very thing.  I read somewhere once that "what you tell yourself everyday will either lift you up or tear you down."  The world does a good enough job with the "monkey wrench."
Trust me I know it's a lot easier to gripe about the things we're not pleased with but what good does that really do in the long run?  It just stresses you out and keeps you in a funk.  Instead of being our own worst critic, let's be our own biggest cheerleader!
You were given special gifts and talents to share with the world and you're the only you that will ever be!  You're a big freaking deal!
