Tijuana Flats Introduces Turkey Chorizo!

Hi Dolls!

I'm from San Antonio so naturally I am a sucker for fresh and tasty Tex-Mex food especially when it comes to tacos, quesadillas, and burritos!  When Tijuana Flats reached out to me to come try some goodies that will be available for the month of February, I jumped at the opportunity! Tijuana's is my favorite place to go for chicken and steak flautas!  Besides the great food, service is always on point, the hot sauce bar is sure to give you a chuckle, and you can't help but admire all of the vibrant artwork throughout each restaurant!  Plus their "Tijuana Tuesdaze" deal is pretty hard to beat with 2 tacos, chips-n-salsa, and a drink for under $6 bucks!
After a successful ground turkey promotion last year, Tijuana Flats will be offering turkey chorizo as a protein option for the month of Febraury!  You will be able to get turkey in all of the traditional Tijuana Flats dishes!  Last week I had the pleasure of sampling some of these dishes and I have to start with my absolute fav of the evening, none other than the Hangover Burrito!
This #badmotherstuffer is a limited-time, signature Turkey Chorizo dish but I really hope they consider adding this to the menu indefinitely!
I can see why it's called the "Hangover Burrito"!  It has turkey chorizo, of course, fried eggs, potatoes, cheese, and jalapenos.  All the ingredients to help you get over a rough night of partying!  The flavors go together perfectly as this was one tasty burrito!
The other dishes we tried that evening were pretty good as well!  This was the no-ritto bowl.  That's right, everything you'd find in a burrito without the burrito!  I love the play on words there!  I see more of this dish as future lunches!
I love it when tortilla chips have meat and melty cheese on them so the Turkey Tostadas were definitely another favorite for the evening!  They were very flavorful!
What's a trip to Tijuana Flats without flautas???  I was thrilled when they brought out the ground turkey flautas!  They were so good!  These lightly fried, crunchy yet chewy flautas get me every time!  And did you know they sell a dessert flauta as well? I didn't!
It's just wrong to end a meal with out dessert!  These were the Cookie Dough Flautas.  The cookie dough is stuffed into the tortillas, lightly fried, topped with powdered sugar, and served with  chocolate dipping sauce.  I have one word, SINFUL!

I had lots of fun at the tasting event and needless to say I was pretty stuffed by the time I left!  It was totally worth it though because the dishes were delicious!  Make sure you stop in at your nearest Tijuana Flats in February to get your own taste of the new, limited-time only, Turkey Chorizo in one of your favorite dishes!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great week!

This Statement Dress!

Hi Dolls,

I've rocked statement necklaces and statement heels that have pulled entire looks together but I can't say that there have been many statement dresses come out of my closet.  Statement dress is exactly what came to mind when I saw this dress in the store!  I concluded no other accessory would be needed because with all of the bold and beautiful prints in this dress it would makes a statement all by itself!
That is exactly what it did!
I received tons of compliments when I wore this dress.  My favorite part is that it looked way more expensive than it was.  As a matter of fact, my bestie could not believe how little I actually paid for it.  Gotta love bargain shopping!
I decided to rock my peep toe gladiator boots and yes, they're a statement all by themselves as well!  I was just one walking exclamation point that day!  The shoes totally worked though!  Besides, I couldn't rock this fabulous dress with boring shoes!
Dress:  H&M
Heels:  ShoeDazzle
So what are your favorite statement pieces?  Do you have any statement dresses that you're totally in love with right now?
Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Sensory Deprivation via H2Om Float Jax

Hi Dolls!

A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of experiencing sensory deprivation via a new phenomenon called floating.  Now I'm not quite sure if it's indeed a "new" phenomenon because there are several floating spas across the nation, but it is new to the Jacksonville area!  I was invited by H2Om Float Jax to come experience a complementary floating session.  I am always up for new experiences but mostly rest and relaxation, so I happily obliged despite it being non-food and fashion related.
When you walk in you automatically recognize you are in a spa!  It was very serene and had that spa aroma!  It smelled like a pool was nearby and I loved the textured blue wall that resembled waves!
These glass heads were super cute and the perfect accessory for the waiting area!  Sidenote: I have been looking for one of these for a  home decor project so if any of you know where I can find one, specifically in teal blue, please let me know!
When at home, I enjoy aromatherapy!  I am constantly burning oils and candles so I was super excited to learn that H2Om Float sells essential oils to enjoy at home.  Lavender and peppermint are some of my favs!
So what exactly is floating you ask?
Well, you are enclosed in a floating pod and immersed in 10 inches of highly concentrated salt and magnesium water that is warmed to skin temperature.  You have the option to completely close the pod with no lights or sound, to experience total sensory deprivation (highly recommended) or leave it open with light music.  The rooms are completely private, equipped with the floating pod, a shower (with soap and shampoo), silicone ear plugs, and shower caps.
Before entering the pod, I had to take a shower to clean off my body and again after the float to get all of the salt solution off.  I put my earplugs in and climbed into the pod.  I chose to get the full sensory deprivation experience so I closed the pod completely and turned off the lights!  Oh and did I mention I was in "the buff"?  Because of the extreme density of the water, I floated effortlessly.  I was super buoyant! Once I finally got comfortable enough to rest my head on the water, I became totally relaxed.  So relaxed, I fell asleep after several moments of reflection.  It is what I imagine floating in the Dead Sea would be like, something that is on my ever-growing bucket list!
After my hour of floating, I was gently awakened by circulating jet bubbles and the unlatching of the pod.  It was a very unique experience that I wouldn't mind doing again.  I was definitely in a state of deep relaxation!  This would be ideal for anyone who needs stress relief! Which I imagine would be most people.
It also gives you the perfect opportunity to pray, meditate, reflect on your day or on things you need to accomplish!   I highly recommend it!
If you'd like to try floating for yourself visit their website here.  The first float is offered at a discounted rate of $45 and I think it's totally worth it!
Would you consider floating with total sensory deprivation?  Let me know in the comments below and thanks so much for stopping by!

St. Augustine Distillery (Yelp Behind the Barrels)

Hi Lovelies!

It had been a while since I last attended a Yelp event and I am so thrilled this was the event I got to attend after my hiatus!  I've been to the St. Augustine Distillery once before, but this time around I enjoyed it ten times more!  From the moment we walked up to check-in, it was good times!  I finally got to meet our new CM, Matt (w/the soft hands) *inside joke haha, and the new Yelp staff who were all a ball of fun!  It's like we've known each other for years!
As for the event itself, it was perfect for a Saturday night out with my bestie!  We were welcomed with Rum Tikis and Gin &Tonics!  Kudos to knowing how to get a party started! When we walked into the main entrance, the set up allowed you to mingle with fellow Yelpers while being serenaded by live music from The Grand Paxton Band.
The small bites provided by Dina were a hit!  We missed out on the salad but we were able to get a sample of all three quesadillas and dessert.  I'm a professed carnivore but I actually enjoyed the veggie quesadilla best!  The mushrooms and spinach were like music to my taste buds!  I'm looking forward to dining in the actual restaurant!
The tour of the distillery was great!  Kelsey (or is it Chelsea?) had a bubbly personality that made me want to pay attention to every word coming out of her mouth!  She was very knowledgeable about the bourbon making process and was very informative about the history of the St. Augustine Distillery.
She ended the tour by walking us through the process of making a Florida mule that we were able to sample afterwards.
I love mule drinks so this was a win-win for me!
Because I am a "vodka girl"  I had to get a picture with the bottle!  Don't we look great together!?!? Ha Ha!
They sell rum also!
After the tasting we were led to the gift shop where we had the pleasure of meeting the CEO, Philip McDaniel who was super personable!  He spoke about his passion and gave us samples of the amazingly smooth Port Finished Bourbon!
I had to purchase a bottle for my boyfriend!
I thought it would be a nice surprise for him since he enjoys a good bourbon.   Mr. McDaniel even signed the bottle for me and asked a few of us to get together for a photo op!
This was probably one of the best Yelp events I've ever been to!  As you can see below, everyone was in a great mood and super excited to be at the Distillery.
My friend Krystle was happy to buy her hubby a bottle too!
At check out my friend and I couldn't resist purchasing the Bourbon Balls!  There were delish!!!  Looking at this picture of Bourbon Praline Pecans, I'm sad I didn't buy a bag!  The night ended with a raffle for those who donated canned goods for the St. Francis House earlier that evening.

Overall, it was a wonderful event!  Big ups to Matt and everyone else who made it happen!  If this is any indication of what the rest of 2017 Yelp events will look like, I'm can hardly wait!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

Captain D's D-Lites and a GiveAway!!! (closed)

Hi Dolls,

Thank you to everyone who participated in the giveaway!
The winner is LaKisha Moore!  Congratulations Doll!  I will send an email to you shortly.
If you're anything like me, the New Year is always the perfect boost to get your waistline back in check!  This year is more the reason for me because I'll be running in a 15K this March!  I've always made it a point to get to the gym at some point during the week but this time around, I'll be hitting the gym up in full force!  Of course working out is great but what you eat plays a major role in those weight loss goals.  I love cooking but sometimes my work schedule gets the best of me and I find myself in a pickle after a workout, trying to decide what I'm going to eat.  I'm sure some of you can relate!  Well lucky for us, Captain D's, one of the nation's leading fast casual seafood restaurants, recently rolled out their new D-lite menu, to help us all stick to those beloved New Year "get fit" resolutions!
Available now through February 12th, Captain's D-Lites menu features delicious and flavorful entree options that are under 500 calories!  That is music to my ears!  I can get a late evening workout in and not sabotage my hard work afterwards!  I decided to give a few of their new D-lites menu items a try so I stopped in and picked up a few entrees to enjoy at home.
This is the 10-piece Grilled Shrimp Meal served on a bed of rice with steamed broccoli and green beans.  It was very flavorful and pretty filling for only being 380 calories!  I love shrimp so it wouldn't be a tough decision to pick this up after a workout!
The Lemon Pepper White Fish is also served over a bed of rice with steamed broccoli and green beans.  I passed this dish on to my boyfriend but it definitely looks pretty filling and is only 480 calories.
I saved this Wild Alaskan Salmon Salad for lunch the next day!  I was pleasantly surprised at how full I was after eating it.  As a matter of fact, I couldn't even finish it.  That's one of the great  things about salmon.  It fills you up! It came with a fat-free dressing and was only 340 calories!
They also have a Blackened Tilapia entree on the D'Lites menu that I din't get to try but it sounds delicious weighing in at 470 calories!

Bruxie/ Home of the Original Waffle Sandwich

Hi Dolls,

Have I ever told you how much I love the chicken and waffle combination?  I mean...who ever decided, one day, that it was a good idea to put the two together is a genius in my eyes!  It totally works!  Which is why I literally ran into Bruxie, while perusing the streets of Vegas a few weeks ago!  When I saw the sign, I was like "Uhhhh...YEAH, THAT'S DINNER!!!!"
(if you follow me on "The Snap", you know exactly what I'm talking about LOL!)
Bruxie is located on the corner of the New York, New York Hotel and Casino.  When we walked out of the casino to head back towards our hotel, next door, Bruxie was hard to miss!  When we walked in, I thought it was very hip! Some of the best hits out, were playing over the speakers, and it was decorated super cute with waffle irons all over the walls and high bar stools to sit in!
So what is a "Bruxie"  you ask?  Wellllll, it is a new take on a sandwich where authentic, Belgian waffles are used as the bread! The waffles are so light and fluffy!  Surprisingly, they are not super sweet, which is nice.   Inside of these waffles you can get your choice of  quality ingredients from savory to sweet.  Some of them include buttermilk fried chicken, proscuitto and Gruyere, nutella and bananas, and seasonal creme brulee with strawberries and these are just a few choices.  Needless to say, Bruxie would be perfect for a meal any time of day.
Since this was my first visit, I went with the recommended favorites!  This first dish is the Original Fried Chicken and Waffle Sandwich.  It came with a deliciously seasoned fried chicken breast, chili-honey, and cider slaw.
This is the Original Fried Chicken and Waffle Skillet.  It is just like the sandwich but deconstructed, without the slaw. This dish normally comes with a cheddar-bacon waffle but I opted for a regular waffle.  It was amazing!  The seasoning was on point and it was nicely balanced with the sweetness of the maple syrup.  This dish can also come Nashville Style Hot.  My mom got that kind and the chicken had a delightful smoky heat flavor.
Bruxie Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato
I was very happy with my visit to Bruxie!  I wish there was one in my neck of the woods.  They are only a few locations on the west coast.  If you're near Cali or Vegas, it would be worth a visit!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sambalatte in Vegas

Happy New Year Dolls!

How inviting is this entrance to Sambalatte Coffee Lounge?!?!  Considering the fact that it is smack dab in the middle of the Las Vegas strip, it's tucked away quite nicely. It's located in the Monte Carlo, but when you first walk in, it feels like an escape from the flashing lights and smokey casinos!
The outside is honestly what lured me in!  I figured, with a place this attractive on the outside, the coffee must be great on the inside!
The inside was just as swanky.  It had everything you'd want in a coffee lounge!  Intoxicating aromas of gourmet coffee beans from around the world, large lounge chairs for reading a book while sipping on your latte, outdoor seating near beautiful heaters, soft music, huge bags of coffee beans on display, cool wall art, and wifi!  Not to mention the cute Christmas decor!
The menu had a variety of things including teas, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, lattes, iced coffees, and much more.  They strive to give their customers an authentic coffee cafe experience so I knew a latte was what I was going to have.  For the latte art of course!  I asked one of the baristas which one she recommended and she insisted on the Nutella Latte.  So that's what I went with!  My cup was filled to the brim with frothy goodness so it was a challenge getting it back to my table with out messing up the latte art but success prevailed!  I didn't spill a drop!
I recently tried a Nutella Latte for the first time, back in Jacksonville at Southern Grounds Coffee (here) and it was one of the best lattes I have had so this one had a lot to live up to.  It was good but it had nothing on the one back in Florida!
My mom was with me and got a cup of green tea.  I don't think you can mess that up!  She was feeling a little under the weather and she said it made her feel a little better!
Overall, I was pleased.  It is definitely a welcomed change from your day to day chain coffee shops.  Local is always better anyways!  Sambalatte only has 3 locations and they are all in Vegas!  Next time I go, I going to try the rainbow latte! Well maybe...I'm not sure how I feel about food coloring in my latte, but it looks pretty!
