Soups On

Hey Dolls,

So yesterday I forgot to bring lunch to work so after work I decided to go to a spot I’ve been wanting to try called Soups On Jacksonville, a gourmet soup company……..

They change their menu daily so click here if you’d like to see it.  I already knew that my meal would cost about $9 so I prepared myself to taste some awesome soup and phenomenal sandwich that’s much better than Panera Bread, one of my absolute favorite places for soup and sandwiches. Hey if I was going to pay that, it should be good right????

Welllll to get right to this review, I’ll start with the pros:

1.) They have really cute tables with veggies and chickens on them.

2.) I loved the colorful images of fruit and veggies on the wall and the AC was pumping which was nice considering the weather outside yesterday!

3.) I have a thing for handwritten menus……..

 4.) The food looked appetizing…..

Ok enough of that!  On to the unfortunates.

– I ordered the roast beef sandwich and Maryland Crab soup. The roast beef sandwich comes with lettuce, tomato, roast beef, white cheddar, and horseradish mayo.  I asked the gentleman who took my order if he could substitute my horseradish mayo with regular mayo and he told me he would but……..my sandwich….still had horseradish mayo….. (Strike 1)

I really don’t like to complain about my food or service unless absolutely warranted and since I was able to tolerate the horseradish mayo, I just ate the sandwich, which wasn’t half bad.  The beef could’ve been a little more tender but not horrible.

I ordered the spiced orange iced tea which really wasn’t bad at all.  It was quite refreshing actually. (Thumbs up :))

Ok on to this Maryland Crab soup….. looks good huh?  Looks aren’t everything. (Strike 2)

Thank God for seasoning.

At this point I was willing to give them another try on another day until I dipped my spoon into my soup and pulled this out……A HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  GROSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Strike 3, 4, and 5)

Needless to say, I complained to the guy who took my order and he says “I don’t know where it came from because my hair is short, would you like another bowl?”  Annoyed at his insinuating comment I politely told him to give me my money back, which he did, and I left.

I really wanted to like them but I can probably bet you money, I won’t go back.  Panera Bread will do me just fine.

Have a great day!

Cute dress! Maybe the soup man brought the hair to work with him. I would be so disgusted. You did the right thing in just asking for your money back and walking away. Hairy food is a no go.

Gross about the hair. Makes me wanna hurl. I love NY in the summer. They have free outdoor concerts all throughout the city in the parks (I'm not a NYer but they have better events than Boston).

I hope you do visit NYC this summer! We could meet up since I live 20 minutes from the city. (I'm in Jersey.) Also, you are the second blogger friend of mine that wore a cute black and white striped top/dress today — I'm so inspired to wear my own b & w striped dress (that still has the tags on it)!! I forgot all about it till I saw you both looking so cute!

That is so sad about your experience at Soups On. =( I love that place and hate to hear something negative about it, but it sounded like you really had some crappy service. IF you ever go back, it may help to keep 2 things in mind:1. They don't salt or over-spice their soup. I'm guessing this is because they want the customer to be able to season according to taste.2. NONE of their sandwiches are prepared to order. I found this out the hard way also. But now that I know it, it's not so bad. I stick with the Turkey or the Portobello mushroom. Of course, I can also understand if are paying 9 bucks for soup and sandwich, you want it how you like it. Sad though it was, your review was definitely fair… AND you look adorable!

I love the dress. I really thought it was a skirt and top. What a bummer on the restaurant. So disappointing.
