Hey Dolls,
When I received an invite from Gary of Jax Restaurant Reviews to attend a blogger event at Taste Food Studio, I was thrilled because I have heard so many things about Taste and have been wanting to try them. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity and dragged my friend Bernie along with me for what turned out to be a gluttons paradise!
For starters, cocktails were served! Bernie played it safe and got the Strawberry Shortcake Martini which was phenomenal. Sweet but phenomenal at best! In an attempt to “try something different” I got the pickle martini which I thought was suppose to be a twist to the classic dirty martini but ended up being pickle juice and vodka. Eeeek!!! As much as I tried to like….I just couldn’t but if you LOVE pickle juice, this is the cocktail for you!
We knew going in that we were going to be trying several of their menu items but my goodness, we didn’t realize how many!!!
In no particular order, here is what we had:
1.) Crabcake w/Mango: This was an amazing starter because I love a crab cake that’s mostly crab and the mango chutney was a perfect addition.
2.) Shrimp and Scallops: This was my second favorite dish of the night! Jumbo tiger shrimp, jumbo sea scallops cooked to perfection, red pepper and sun dried tomato garlic butter sauce, and parmesan crostini to sop it up with……HEAVEN!
3.) Pork Belly Taco: This was pretty tasty. The pork belly was braised in teriyaki and served with asian slaw. Hog Heaven!
4.) Flatbread: We had a multitude of different flatbreads including margherita, pepperoni, honey mustard hawaiian, grilled chicken, mango and bacon (Kona). They were all delicious!
5.) Filet Grilled Medallions: Grilled filet covered in gorgonzola fondue, truffle frites, and micro greens. I thought they were amazing.
6.) Shrimp and Grits: This was just okay to me but I may be biased towards creamy grits. This shrimp dish came with cheddar grit cakes, anduoille sausage, and a tomato based Creole sauce.
7.) Tasty Meatballs: THIS WAS MY FAVORITE (hence the bigger picture)!!! I loved everything about this dish! The puff pastry, the “tasty” meatball, the marinara sauce! Pure genius for the chef to come up with such a dish!
8.) Grilled Lamb: By the time the lamb came out, I was stuffed beyond capacity. The presentation was beautiful but that is about all I can say about it. It was served medium with truffle mashed potatoes, and a balsamic reduction.
I enjoyed my experience at Taste Food Studio. The ambiance is very upbeat and contemporary. Perfect for the live music and social events they have throughout the week. I am certainly going to be back for a comedy show, Wine-Down Wednesdays and Tasty Meatballs!!!
As always, thanks for stopping by!
Be back soon!
