National Fried Chicken Day at Metro Diner

Hi Dolls,

Guess what day it is!?!  No, it’s not hump day, even better, it’s National Fried Chicken Day!  I know right, who knew there was such a day.  I didn’t but I’m glad there is.  I mean let’s just be real,  everyone loves a great piece of hot and juicy fried chicken.  What better way to celebrate the day than with the infamous Metro Diner Fried Chicken and Waffles dish?!?

metro diner chicken and waffles

The Metro Diner fried chicken and waffles dish definitely lives up to the hype!  The chicken is submerged in a brine for 24 hours then fried to a golden, delicious crisp!  There was so much flavor in these pieces of chicken and they were so juicy!  The Belgian waffles were a nice compliment especially with the strawberry butter slathered all over them!  Now this is half a chicken so it is a dish you can share with someone!  Nonetheless, it’s definitely a Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives worthy dish…pun intended.

Of course you have to have hot sauce with your fried chicken!  This was the sweet and spicy hot sauce and syrup mix our server whipped up for us and it was the perfect compliment to the fried chicken!

Since we’re celebrating National Fried Chicken Day, we went all out and ordered a few more “Fried Chicken” dishes!  Above was the spicy honey chicken biscuit!  It’s made with fried chicken tenders and spicy honey on a biscuit.  It was quite tasty with just the right amount of heat.  Below is the fried chicken tender salad made with crispy chicken tenders over mixed greens, shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese, bacon, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, and croutons! All the ingredients for a great salad. It was just that! It was huge though so it’s definitely another dish that can be shared if you’re in the sharing mood!

Believe it or not, I had never been to Metro Diner before. I know, I know, crazy but true. I’ve always heard the rave about the restaurant , especially as it pertains to their famous Metro Diner chicken and waffles but up until this day, I’d never stepped foot into one. I am so glad that has changed! The food there is delicious! The restaurant itself definitely has a diner feel. Lots of hustle and bustle, busy cooks, hungry and satisfied guests!   This won’t be the last time I visit Metro Diner and you should definitely check it out as well!  Today would be the perfect day to stop in for the infamous Metro Diner Fried Chicken and Waffles in celebration of “National Fried Chicken Day”!  If you do, tell them Trice sent ya!  As always, thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!
