Hi Dolls, I saw a post on social media recently that said
“If you see a woman who has everything going for herself and you’re not ready to add value to her life…just admire her from afar. Please DO NOT DISTURB her greatness.”
When I read this quote, I thought of a couple of things it could’ve been in reference to and it reminded me of a blog post I wrote, not too long ago, that briefly addressed “F-boys” who vie for your attention without anything to bring to the table. However, when I dug a little deeper, I realized this quote is applicable to life, in general.
I truly believe that anyone who is doing great things in their lives, did their due diligence to get to a point where their greatness is noticeable by others, whether it be professionally, academically, personally, and even socially. It would be highly inconsiderate and selfish to disrupt their greatness. Think about this, to become the employee of the month, that person had to truly hone their skills and interactions with others enough for the powers that be to say “Hey this is who should be recognized this month.” To be a “straight A” student requires being diligent in your studies. Sometimes you have to sacrifice hanging out with friends or partying to stay home and study if your academics are that important to you. If you don’t have greater study habits to give someone who has already been successful their entire academic career, don’t tell them to go partying with you just cram the night before. You’d be devaluing them by doing this.
To use myself as a barometer, when I think about my involvement with social media and being an “influencer”, I had to do research and a lot of networking first. I needed to learn more about blogging and what I ultimately want for my brand and image. Trust me, I started at very, very humble beginnings not knowing exactly what I was doing. Though I’m not where I want to be yet, I’ve come a heck of a long way from where I started and I’m proud of the work I’ve put in thus far to get to where I am. With that being said, for anyone who may come across this post, please do not disturb my greatness unless our meeting, collaboration, or involvement of any kind, would be mutually beneficial. Life is too short for anyone’s time to be wasted.
I say all of this to bring it back to the original quote. If you see someone who is doing amazing things in their life, no matter what realm of their life it’s in, don’t come in and interrupt it unless you can add value to it. It’s definitely applicable for all and in all areas of life.
Ok so now on to this super cute look! Believe it or not, this isn’t a jumper! It is a swimsuit actually and a pair of trousers! Both bought on different days, from two completely different stores! Don’t you just love it when fashion happens. I bought the pants from Zara last year and the swimsuit from Marshalls this summer before going to Jamaica. Who says you can’t wear swimsuits as body suits?!? This hat was a whopping $5 bucks at Target! Perfect for vacay!

Thank you Faith! Yep, two completely different pieces that match perfectly!
Love this look and I’m here for wearing swimsuits as bodysuits. Definitely in the same mental space. If it’s not productive or positive or adding to my mission I don’t need it! Thanks for sharing!

Trice,
This is Dad. I really miss you and enjoyed reading your post. I also con articulate with the statement, “I truly believe that anyone who is doing great things in their lives, did their due diligence to get to a point where their greatness is noticeable by others, whether it be professionally, academically, personally, and even socially. It would be highly inconsiderate and selfish to disrupt their greatness”. Have a blessed year. Love Dad
