Retro Vibes at The Local In St. Augustine

Do you love a little nostalgia? If so, I know the perfect place you can stay, next time you visit St. Augustine! The Local! It’s an adorable, 20 room boutique motel that has recently been renovated and is only moments away from St. Augustine Beach, The St. Augustine Amphitheater, and historic downtown, St. Augustine, Florida. Vintage motels are making their way back on to the scene and The Local has definitely staked it’s claim in St. Augustine. Considering it’s located in the nation’s oldest city, it is doing a great job giving off those retro vibes but with boutique amenities, and a few contemporary features the modern day traveler can appreciate, like their digital experience. Check-in and check-out is totally contactless. All you need is a smart device with blue tooth to do so and to navigate your way around the property.

I was hosted by The Local for this stay but opinions are my own.

Did I mention The Local is pink? I mean very pink! I’m a girly-girl so I am all for the pink touches through out! The “Welcome to St. Augustine” sign with the retro font adds to the nostalgic feel and it’s perfect for capturing photos! Totally Insta-worthy if you ask me! The palm trees are a nice touch too! It definitely screams old school Florida!

Driving up to The Local took me back to my childhood. Remembering those long road trips to grandmas with the random motel stops to kick back and relax for the evening, are memories I hold near and dear! Driving up to or even past this super cute, pink motel will make you do a double take.

The digital experience to check-in was pretty seamless. I simply checked in on the app and was provided my digital key that I used to unlock my room and other amenities like the pool gate.

My room was very cute and quaint. Upon entering, I found a really sweet, handwritten card, welcoming me to The Local along with a box of chocolates from Whetstone Chocolates, who has a local store and offers chocolate tasting tours in St. Augustine. I thought it was the sweetest gesture!

My room was nicely air conditioned, had a fridge and microwave, a small dining table, cable tv, and a nice large bed. There was also a safe, high-speed wi-fi, and a hair dryer and pink towels in the bathroom. Additionally, it was hard not to love the pink palm leaf wall paper! It added nicely to the overall aesthetic.

After looking at pictures, the rooms are all equipped with the same amenities but vary in cool interior design. Each room is freshly cleaned and stocked for guests. They come with a single full, double full, single king, or double queen. There are only 20 rooms, “providing guests a feeling of home after exploring the nation’s oldest city”. I was so comfy during my stay.

Once settling into my room, I did a little exploring around the property and found the pool. It was a warm day so I had to dip my toes in to cool off. As you can see, I wasn’t the only one with the idea. It was perfect for unwinding!

The Local has also partnered with Drifters Beach & Bike Rentals to provide easy access to their outpost which is located on-site. With their easy rental process, you can hop on a bike and go exploring in no time. The Bridge of Lions that leads to downtown St. Augustine is in walking distance so on a bike, you could be enjoying the historic sites of downtown in no time! If working out is your thing, as a guest of The Local, you have access to Anastasia Fitness!

The Local hasn’t been opened for too long so I’m excited to see what’s to come in the near future. They have a Garden Lounge area as well as a Hospitality Suite with Coffee and Music coming soon!

Ahhh, I really enjoyed my stay at this cute little motel! I live for a good nostalgic moment and The Local provided that for me. The digital experience to check in and out was different from any other hotel I’ve ever been to and it was very convenient! I can see going back for a girl’s weekend in the city! The Local would be the perfect place to stay! I definitely recommend booking a stay with them the next time you travel to St. Augustine.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by!

XOXO
